Abilify for O.D.D also has A.D.H.D | ADHD Information

My son, who is also 8, is on 30mgs of Ritalin LA for the past 2 days. He has been sick to his stomach since he started taking it though. He complains a lot about it but has never thrown up. He has gone into the bathroom though and said he was about to. He was on 20mg the prior two weeks.

The doctor thinks my son might have O.D.D. too but he is leaning toward ADD based on the teacher's report. How does your son act? I am curious. Ours makes constant noises, has a nervous laugh and has what we call "get under your skin syndrome".

I'd call you doc about him throwing up to be safe.

kimberly, You don't say what dosage your son is on.  My 4 year old daughter just started taking Abilify 4 days ago for ODD.  She was on Risperdal but gained 11 lbs. in about 3 1/2 months so we had to switch to something else.  We have 10 mg tablets but the doctor told me to cut them in half for the first week and only give her 1/2.  She takes it at dinner time.  She has been doing pretty well.  She does not complain of any stomach problems and I have already noticed a decrease in her appetite.  She does seem sleepier but this is also a good thing as I would have to chase her back to bed 10 or more times every night previously.  I did see that vomiting could be a side effect so maybe you just need to start with a smaller dosage until your son gets used to the med.  My daughter will be going to a full dose in 4 more days.  I'll let you know if there is any change.

Hi everyone, my name is Kimberly and i have three sons aged 8,4, and 6months! My 8 year old has A.D.H.D and also O.D.D, and my 4 year old is in the process of being tested for A.D.H.D! Anyways my son is currently on Ritalin LA 30mg, and just recently started taking Abilify for his aggressiveness and  for his opposition which lately has gotten totally out of control. He was taking Risperdal for this but it made him wake up at night moaning and crying every nightanyways he has only taken 2 doses of this at night and he has vomited both nights, does anyone have a child on this medication, any info would be appreciated i just hate giving new meds, or any meds for that matter,thanks for reading, god bless and good luck to all the little special people in our lives
