I've read that your eyeballs are the only part of your body that never grow. They stay the same throughout your lifespan. That's why babies have such big, bright eyes.

Could be netlore though. Who knows.
I have convergence and farsighted problems.Dad is nearsighted bad. Daughter is fine.

GypsyWomyn, have your eyes always been this bad? Have you allways been both nearsighted and longsighted?

bcgirl1978, i doubt that.... because, then why is your sight changing allot until you are 19-21? I am sure that it grows, in some way until the rest of the body stops...

I couldn't cast my vote, because I'm near-sighted (need glasses for seeing distance/far) and very far-sighted...need glasses for close work/reading. ((?long-sighted). Too bad you didn't create the poll so more than one vote can be cast. Also, when I was growing up, I always thought needing glasses for distance meant far sighted. duh!

As you age, your near-sightedness may tend to improve, and mine has quite a bit; however, now I need glasses for reading reading. Then there's the inbetween that puts me in tri-focals. GypsyWomyn38425.7177546296

-7.50 in one eye and -8.00 in the other...

needed glasses since age 6..

Your eyes must be old?

I can see like 1 meter, clearly... and the rest is a fog... that is Nearsightedness...

I just think about how your eyes were when you were like.... 20.... Peoples eyes loose their flexibility with age... You focus by bending the eyes lens... but both muscles and lense loose their flexibility. So I was just thinking about when you were younger :)

I have needed glasses since age 6. And I remember reading that eyes grow faster when you eat allot of carbohydrates, and since allot of ADHD are addicted to carbohydrates, I draw a conclusion. A faster growing eye, makes it bigger... equals nearsightedness.... and a big intake of carbohydrates, for some reason, are responsible for many ADHD cases... I have failed to see why... but if i look at my self, I can clearly see that I have a very big intake of carbohydrates.

Taag Man38425.7027662037-6.75 here - glasses since I was 8 - one more reason for being teased.

I will look into that "No Touch" laser surgery when the cost comes down. LOL.

I noticed that allot of us are nearsighted... so why not take a poll...

I am Very Near-sighted... -6

Notes:

Longsightedness is when you can't see what is close to you... like reading.

Nearsightedness is when you can only see what is close to you...

Make your vote based on how your sight was when you were like 18-30.

Let's see...I started wearing glasses for near-sightedness in 6th grade. Could see close up/reading perfectly. My distance vision continued to get worse for many years. Then somewhere in my late 40s early 50s, my nearsightedness began to improve. At about age 40, I started needed glasses to read, and have had needed stronger reading glasses every 2 years, when I've had eye exam done.

I've also had an astymatism all my life, but this year when I had my eyes examined, I was told it was nearly non-existent. That, I don't understand. *shrugg*

This is something new to me, about the eye growing until the body stops (my body hasn't stopped growing yet...oh, you mean height. ) If that was so, then my eyes would be as large a bowling balls!

Seriously, I am going to do a little research on this theory, tho.

Near sighted in one eye and far sighted in the other. Go figure!

leave it to one of us ad/hders!

Thanks Gypsy, I can never remember things like that for whatever reason. I know I've learned that info hundreds of times, but for whatever reason, it just disappears!

Wow, Look Shiny I've never heard of such a difference in vision in one person- that's something else!I put myself down as very long sighted, but not sure if that is correct. I got reading glasses when I was in my mid 20's, but my distance vision is far above average for my age.Yep, Choc..that's far sightedness....see far, but not close.
