I have been on Concerta, 54mg for a year and a half. I've personally been worried about my own cardiological health after recently I would be lying down calmly breathing and my heart would be racing as if I had been running for the past hour. Since my family has a history of heart disease, it worries me a good bit. Also, I don't know that it's a good idea to have your child on such powerful medication at such a young age, be it Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, etc. A while back, Canada stopped with a lot of Adderall because of SUD (sudden unexplained death) in children. I was put on ritalin at age 10, so I was able to deal with it better, but anyay you made the right choice to take her off the medication until you find out more information.
My 5 yr old daughter is currently on Concerta for ADHD, and now seems to have developed a heart murmur. We have had an EKG, and are scheduled for an echocardiogram as well as a consultation with a pediatric cardiologist. Has anyone else had experiences such as this on Concerta? We are worried about heart damage. (She is now off of her meds until we get more answers).
