Temper Tantrum | ADHD Information
My son started concerta 18 mg last Friday. I thought I found my miracle. Teachers were raving, his artwork improved, baseball coaches raved. The whole weekend was fantastic, we were able to talk through any problems, he was able to hold a discussion with me. I was so relieved. However, the past two nights when I picked him up after work around 5:30 pm my son has gone into temper trantrums. Monday night he cried all the way home over the simplest little thing and told me how bad he hated his life. Last night he went into a RAGE! My son has never gone into a rage-it scared me. The whole episode lasted 15 minutes but took me about an hour to calm down from it. A friend of mine told me he is in a transition phase. Is this true? And said that when he comes down off the med I should give him a little caffeine to level him off. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I thought I was going to lose my mind last night. Thanks for any response you might have.Dawn Joyce38427.5662152778Many people on Concerta lose Impulse control when on it. The results include panic, lying, stealing, being paranoid or self concious, and viloent spels. Your child may lose the aggression he feels very shortley, but the rage will continue to avoid looking dumb, that's the best way I can interpret kid's reactions to Concerta
when the medication wears off a lot of people have what's called rebound. sometimes it's severe depressed feelings, and sometimes it's anger. it's usually just sadness and anti-social behavior combined with kinda sever irritability. it lasts like a half hour-an hour after the meds wear off. the caffine suggestion might help.
