I've always had "fashion sence", but unfortunatly not for myself. I've done displays for stores I've worked in and even won awards! That was many yrs. ago, but I can still shop for someone else or can tell what someone else would look good in. I'm usually right! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to shop! I try the clothes on, pick out accessarys (love earrings and belts) and I think I look great. NOT!
Now the fun part, I "model" them for my hubby. This time I'm sure I got a winner! Strut my stuff and than the looks and comments come:"if you had curves and a butt, that would look great" I'm 47 and I'm built like a girl! No one believes my age, and hey, I'm not complaining! Take clothes back, head to girls or JR's and buy jeans, T shirt and "comfy" shoes. Now girls, how many of you can say you hubby or boyfriend can buy your clothes that actually fit and you REALLY LIKE? I can! He can pick out a really nice outfit. He shocks his co-workers. Now I let him "dress me up".
And yes ILLHTAC, I would love for you to take me shopping. That would be a fun expirence (visiting Tampa FL. anytime soon?)

oooh! ooooh! can I take you guys shopping? I love shopping, and clothes, and SHOES. My problem is that when I'm shopping I find too many things that I want and I buy some of them and never wear them because what was so cool in the store isn't wearable in real life.
I have a hard time putting outfits together for myself though, because I spend a half hour every morning trying on everything I own and then realize that I'm late, throw on a sweatshirt and jeans, put my hair in a ponytail and leave. I'm good at dressing other people though. My mom and my friends like to take me shopping because I'm good at finding things that look good with lots of things. I dress my roomate when she has to look nice because she never even matches her socks and doesn't understand clothes at all. She is really good at makeup though, and putting on mascara and lipgloss is wearing a lot of makeup to me, so when we go out she does my makeup and I dress her and we look good.
It might be the creativity thing, but I have always loved clothes and playing dress up and trying on everything in my closet and seeing what goes together. My advice for shopping is to relax and don't worry about finding things that match, just find something in a color that you like, or a style that's like things that you already have and like. Then when you find some things take them home and try them with things you already have. The most important thing is getting clothes that fit you well and that you're comfortable in.
a good trick for nail polish- when I paint my nails (so I won't bite them, for a few days anyway) I use clear so that when it starts to chip and stuff it's not obvious.
oh yeah! I usually wear jeans and a sweater too. No make-up, fortunately my husband likes me better this way. Haircut 2-3 times a year, and nail polish??? you've got to be kidding! Fortunately also that I am in an outdoorsy-type profession that allows me to get away with this.
I agonize for months over buying one pair of pants, trying to find something that I can wear everywhere and will go with everything because my wardrobe is so limited. Also don't have the money to buy clothes, or get haircuts for that matter. I also agonize over haircuts, either don't have time, don't have money, or don't know what style to get so I guess I will wait another month...LOL. I have 5 pair of shoes: black, brown, runners, sandals and boots.
My mother is always giving me feminine-type clothes "you can wear this with a little camisole under it dear". "A what mom? I don't think I have one of those". So I have half a closet full of stuff that has nothing to go with it, or has to be ironed (HA, like I will ever wear that!). I do feel "un-fem" sometimes, not that I don't like nice clothes, I'm just not good at it so I feel uncomfortable wearing them.
Hey guys, I reallly love how our friends at Google give us ads themed on words from the posts! Right now I can see ads for Creative nail design, dicounted manicures, yoga clothing Australia, Brazilian Jeans and Golf Pants.
I'm just going to say that I have an incontinence problem, male hair loss and I really love perfumed candles. Wonder what that will bring up
yes, I have ALWAYS ZONED OUT the moment I stepped into a store...clothes everywhere, and I would look for about 15 minutes and then get frustrated because I could not remember what I saw 4 wracks ago that would match this sweater perfectly....I just could not keep everything in my mind long enough to come up with good outfits....So I would just leave out of frustration....my husband trailing behind me, looking confused and subdued pleading..."But dear-- I really DID like that one....." thinking that it was something HE said that caused my frustration....
it's kinda funny when I think about it.....
I can really relate to this too. Okay, the very word "un-polished" makes me cringe.Hello
I am so frustrated with not being able to put together a decent oufit. My sister tells me I look "un-polished". But I hate to shop, and when I do,,,, I stare at everything not knowing what goes with what. I end up buying a shirt here, some pants there,,, with nothing that goes together. I wear jeans and sweaters most of the time because it is easy.
And I get my hair cut maybe two or three times a year.... I can't fathom going in every 6 weeks! And nails,,,,, I can barely keep them trimmed up, let alone polished. If I do polish them,, it ends up wearing off, and looking like hell cuz I forget to take it off!.
Am I alone in this? This may be ridiculous, but it is frustrating for me none the less, and makes me feel less feminine.
