Adult Men,  What has your experience been with Stratterra?  Has ANYONE had success with it?

Hi all.  I am a 31 year old male.  I believe I have been ADD most of my life.   Currently I am fairly successful in a sales career, but my life has always tended to be a rollercoaster ride.   I have to fight to keep my apartment clean (and usually lose) and I am always jumping from one thing to another.  I tend to stay fairly healthy, but when I do happen to "go out" I almost always drink to much and struggle with the concept of moderation in anything.

A couple times over the past years I have gone to see a doctor in hopes of finding the right medications that could help to just balance me out a bit.  I tried Wellbutrin once and something else (don't recall), but never liked the way the meds made me feel and jumped off of them.  I am hoping for something that can help me to focus without feeling like my brain is being completely hijacked.

Before the new year I was prescribed Strattera but never took it because I found this board and read some scary feedback.  Which brings me to my question...

Have any ADULT MEN on this board had any success with Straterra on this board?  I read several complaints about it possibly effecting the prostate.  Is true?

Any advise would be much appreciated.  Thanks all!

Socal38428.4702314815Thanks for the feedback Jack.  Any other adult men on this board have any experience with Stratterra and what has worked for you (med-wise) otherwise? Socal38429.8698958333Well I'm on 60mg of Strattera for 1 month and 1/2 and have had no problems. I did not have any side effects and don't know about that prostate thing. It seems to be working fairly well, but some days I feel like it isn't working and others I feel like it is. I may need a higher dose of something, but so far nothing real serious has happened. I guess I'll have to give it time to make sure, but I hope that helps. Trust me I hear scary stuff about everything, so I don't think it changes much.I'm a 32 year old guy - Been on 75mg of Stratterra for about a year and a half. It works pretty well, I definitely find I can work and concetrate better when I take it, but it's not a cure by any means - still hard not to procrastinate.  I notice a few mild side effects - nothing too bad, also a few positive ones, I lost about 10 lbs, not that I was THAT overweight but definitely could have stood to lose those 10.  My wife (who is a doctor) says my moods seem much more even and consistent when I'm on it compared to days when I forget to take it.

I like Strattera so far. I've only noticed effectiveness in last month, when I finally got up to an adequate dosage. I sure hope it lasts. I've experienced mild negative sexual side-effects, but at my age (57) Viagra and similar drugs are often of interest anyway.thanks for the info all!  How long have you been on Ritalin The Resitance?  Isn't ritalin supposed to lose its effectiveness after a while too?  How long did Stratterra work for you?  Any wierd side effects?  i have heard of men having erection issues on strattera....my husband was on it for a while, but he never had any problems....didn't notice any benefits, either...then again my husband is a very big man, and perhaps the dosage was not large enough to suit him......had the dosage been more, then maybe he would have had more benefits...he may have also had more problems also, but he stopped strattera...he just kinda "fell out of" taking it because it does not seem to do anything for him, and he never went back to change meds....Ritalin: 3 months
Still going strong. The good thing about MPH is you can take it when you like, it kicks in and you go, then it wears off. Strattera is a take every day or else kind of thing.

Strattera: How long did it work really well, maybe 1.5 to 2 months. No side effects to mention.

Switched to Ritalin, slow release thing, which I love. It has a spike early in the day where I am speeding for lack of a better term but I love the buzz. Rest of the day I am a focused demon freight-training to my goals.

TR!
