Frank Lawless is nothing more than a snake charming bastard and I am going to tell everyone
Indeed he is and I guess now he has raised his consultation fee from 5 grand to 6 grand. He is in fact a snake oil salesman. All he is doing his helping himself to parents wallets and his friend Phil moves the process along. He is spewing the same garbage that has been spewed for years by others who have also tried to cash in at the expense of parents who desperately want to help their children. Thanks for creating awarenss.
Asthma and allergies are commonly together. Get rid of store cleaning supplies. Use ones made from natural ingrediants. This I believe makes the difference.Hello,
That's not what I got out of his book at all. I believe what he is saying is that it takes more than a pill to help your child. He stated in his booked that some children do indeed require medication, but they also need a healthy diet. As for the magnets, lead, too much tv..ect., lead can cause symptoms of ADD, you need to rule it out. Too much TV isn't good for anyone, neither is computers or cell phones. And magnets, it states that there are people that have had success with them, but very few, it was an option to try if you wanted, he wasn't promoting. Sound therapy and biofeedback has been proven to help many children with ADD. He strongly believes that you you need to be a strong family unit or football team to best deal with all that comes with an ADD child. If you have a weak link it only makes it that much more difficult. I took his advise along with that of a couple other books and took my son to have blood work done. Turns out after three years of struggling with different medications and making no real progress, that my son is deficient in zinc and magnesium. I never thought he would be lacking in anything since he is a very good eater. These two minerals are very important for brain function. Now he is on supplements and we were able to cut his Adderall XR dosage in half. I'm sorry you found his book to be useless. Have you read "Parenting Children with ADHD 10 Lessons That Medication Cannot Teach" by Vincent J. Monastra, PhD? It is very helpful. At least I thought so.
hE IS A SUPPOSED ADHD SPECIALIST.Just because someone is a specalist doesn't make them a great listener either. Thios was my experience w/ 3 pediatric neurologists anyhow.I also heard about Frank Lawlis' book. I checked it out from the library, before deciding to purchase it. This guy is a joke!!!! I am appaled to think that Dr. Phil even endorses him. I listen to his show almost everyday. Except when I know that this fool is going to be on. I felt the same way after reading about half the book. I got the impression that he was saying that my sons condition was all my fault because I was not strict enough with him when he was litttle.
Try this book, it's brand new (out this year), I have read about half of it so far and am very impressed. The authors themselves are AD/HD. The book is called AD/HD for DUMMIES by Jeff Strong and Dr. Michael O. Flanagan. In this book they review different types of treatment options, suggest life strategies, help to explain AD/HD, give resources, suggest websites(which is how I found this one), etc. It is a great book. Written in plain English. Easy to read.
so far I can't say anything bad about it. And they don't suggest that you treat your family like a football team!!!!!!
MafiaKiddo wrote: I still have not seen a single television show or news program report on ADHD correctly
Nor have I MafiaKiddo but then again if they reported accurate information, they wouldnt make money so they have to sensationalize and lie like any good snakeoil salesman. You also make a very good point about doctors and thats why its important for parents to either try to get recommendations or if not, try to research the doctors background to ensure that they have the credentials to properly diagnose and treat childhood disorders. All clueless doctors do is drain parents wallets and delay good treatment for the child. That is extremely sad.
Dr Lawlis: is just giving other options to consider is what I got from him. A adhd brain is different than non adhd brains. They showed the adhd brain with dysfunction and adhd not. This was on a Pet scan. Ahem,
