Hi
My son's pupils have always been large, even before he started to take meds.
Who Know's
Strattera does dialate the pupils. The only problem we are having with strattera is the tiredness. Since he takes depakote also I don't which one is doing it. He was tired before meds also. Thyroid check is planed for the next visit also.Hyper thyroid will increase activity levels. Low thyroid also causes low energy. A untreated thyroid can cause other internal problems also. Our Dr. says she has seens kids with it. If you can find a internal medacine Dr. who sees kids I highly reccomend it. I am learning different things from ours I didn't know before. Like if someone is ill a lot most likely a immune disease.I had our sons tonsills and adnoids removed. she said should not have.My daughter (she's 6) is on her 2nd day of concerta and I noticed yesterday that her pupils are extremely large. I know she wasn't that way before because she has been to the eye doctor numerous times and we never noticed it until now. But I'm not sure why your son's eyes would be that way with no meds. Good Luck.I have noticed my son's pupils are very large, ever since he was a baby. One is also larger than the other. Both pediatrician and eye doctor say it is nothing to be concerned about. His vision is great.
Oh, and he's not on meds.
boggled38442.3700231481
I've noticed that my son's pupils are like almost ALL the time HUGE. I look at mine and they aren't like that...neither is his dads. I just wonder that IS this something to worry about? IS this a symptom of hyperness? I know and so does his teachers that he is hyper. He's only 6 and in 1st grade. Grades are 'off the charts. Just lemme' know...have a look at your childs pupils and tell me the outcome. Any/All responses are greatly appreciated.
My husband noticed that my son's pupils are always large. We could be sitting under direct light and his pupils would be large, everyones elses were small. My child is hyperactive and at the time he was not on medications. I have found some websites on vision and how some therapies help with ADD/ADHD. I have not taken my child to the optometrist as of yet however, i am looking into it.
Good luck with your son!
I don't know this to be a symptom of hyperactivity but for anyone that is concencered about the size of their child's pupils being too big and the child isn't taking any medications that would cause them to dialate, I suggest that the child been seen by an opthalmologist to rule in or rule out a medical reason.
Luvmykids0239031.0070138889my pupils are large too (am also not on any medication but dxed ADD) i wonder if that is a possible sign of ADD????When my son was 18 I took him to get contacts and I asked the eye doctor why they were so big like that and he said that it is not uncommon and that sooner or later they will out grow it, just some kids are like that and some are not.
