Has anyone heard anything about Dr. Daniel G. Amen and the Amen Clinics for Heaing ADD?

He is recognized for pioneering the technology to take brain images called SPECTS and be able to see, in color, the areas of the brain that are underactive, overactive and normal.

His book is a fascinating read, and he appears to have unlocked the mystery to ADD and makes it very clear, concise and simple what is happening in the ADD brain.

I have not yet looked for or found other professionals in the field who endorse his work other than the countless names listed in his book.   The book is Healing ADD, The breakthrough program that allows you to see and heal the 6 types of ADD.

If you have any information to share on this ADD Breakthrough I would love to hear as I'm sure other members would too.

Here is the website to check it out.

Would love any and all feed-back

Yes, I have had this book before (i loaned it out and never got it back)...but it is an excellent book....

they map the brain and figure out exactly where the problem areas of the ad/hders are.......very intrigueing....

and for you guys out there that don't know about this book: although the book says "healing add" it IS NOT one of those hoaxes that claims that you can totally get rid of ad/hd or that ad/hd is a "state of mind" or anything like that so don't worry...

and it  talks about excellent treatment strategies.....and the doctor has a son with ad/hd and talks about him from time to time, and he also talks about some of the patients he has had, so he is knowledgable...

But I highly reccommend this book.

p.s....

the author is a neuropsychiatrist....do you think that if you simply found a neuropsychiatrist (regardless of if they were affiliated with dr. amen or not) that they would have similar techniques as this doctor for the treatment and dealing of ad/hd?

just wondering, I will be checking out a neuropsychiatrist very soon, and I was just wondering will they have similar practices that dr. amen has...

yes, I must admit, that when I saw "healing ad/hd" and dr. "amen" on the book in the bookstore, I honestly picked the book up thinking..."oh god, now this I GOTTA see...there's not telling WHAT this mess is gonna be about" so i picked up the book just to see what hoohah and googab they were gonna say about ad/hd...

never even thought I would end up liking the book so much that I would buy it!!

Sonya, I think it's important to find credible pschy's or psychotherapists, who endorse his work.

I'll let you know what I find out from a new Psych I'm working with.  We meet tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.

Till then,

Yeah, I agree about the title and the cover of this book. Bad marketing, especially considering how informative the book is. I used those pictures to help explain to my seven year old why he is taking meds.
