If I was going to write a commercial for Strattera it would go something like this...
"Want to never sleep again? Feel moody all day? You'll forget all about ADHD when you take Strattera, Strattera side effects are so bad you'll be distracted from your disorder! You'll be so busy dealing with headaches, nausea and constipation you'll never have to think about ADD, even if it bothers you."
...what do you think?
Not to change the subject away from strattera, but Yes, taag man, I was on wellbutrin, (for depression) and that helped a little....that is a stimulant, right?
accept, wellbutrin SR..(slow release, the OLD kind, take 2 a day) did SO MUCH BETTER than the newer, wellbutrin XL..(you take 1 a day)....Wellbutrin XL did hardly anything.....I wonder why?
But I got pregnant and had to stop my quest to find a suitable stimulant drug actually for the ad/hd, for the time being ....I will continue my search after junior gets here.

Yes, it stimulates in some fashion... and I think it also block the reuptake of seretonin... but I am not sure...
In Denmark, Amfetamines and Ritalin is the only ADHD medication we can get... from what I know of your state of mind, I would suggest that you try Ritalin... and of course you also need to eat properly, and perhaps take food additions... your Hypathalamus can't build neurotransmitters out of nothing...
There can be many reasons why those two products works different on you... I can only speculate that perhaps the newer product is less stimulating... for reasons that I do not know.
Try Ritalin... it's relativly harmless, and is designed for ADHD... wich Wellbutrin is not...
Coming up to my 3rd week on Strattera. I'm a innatentive slow type of ADD, so maybe I would do better on Ritalin, but I have Tourette's so my doctor wants me to try Strattera first and maybe that will work for me. If not, I'll have to try Ritalin and an antidepressant and hope my tics don't get too bad.
I haven't noticed any constipation at all, everything seems fairly normal. I'm not having any insomnia, but have been having more dreams, so I'm having a different sort of sleep than I used to.
Appetite seems normal.
Taag Man, what have you read about food additions? I should think about taking some vitamins I suppose.

Well, I actually haven't read anything about it.... But i know that you should keep your hands off quick energy... like carbonhydrates...
This drug was originally developed to be an anti-deperessant. But it di not work very well (many people got worse while taking it). But it did seem to enhance concentration in many people. Since they had already spent a huge sum of R&D dollars and could not sell it as an anti-depressant, they changed their marketing and re-branded it as an ADD medication.
This stuff can affect your personality. It is really not good.
My shrink would not prescribe it for me, he didn't think it was a very good treatment for ADHD. But then again, the Adderall he gave me wasn't very good either. PLLLLEEAAASSSEEE STRESS THE
CONSTIPATION ISSUE!!!
Strattera is a blocker...
it's a blocker, alright.....
Not meaning to post a 3rd time, but I have to agree with Taag man...I think Strattera is better at calming down those "wild" ad/hders than at helping motivate us slow and sluggish ad/hders....I am a "lazy", slower, more sluggish adder (not bouncing of the walls or jumping out of airplanes, or anything) and I was on strattera for several months, and it slowed me down too much, when actually, what I needed was an energy boost.....(it also "slowed down" my entire digestive system).....and it just was not the best for me personally.....and I was too busy staring at the ceiling all night long, and being in pain from other side effects, to notice any worthwhile benefits....
ever notice that awful metallic taste in your mouth?
or those weird heart rhythms?
notice how weird your bladder felt? like, it was so full, yet you could hardly pee...
notice how awfully dry your mouth was?
I'm a skinny girl, and on that stuff, I could literrally go for days without eating, without even noticing I hadn't ate, or feeling hungry at all if I let myself...I got even skinnier...
BUT MY WORST EFFECT, BY FAR, WAS THE CONSTIPATION!!! OH, IT WAS TORTURE...
OK, that was tmi...too much info...
Sonya_h... the heart thing is a real indicater of your adrenalin levels... Adrenalins tune your body in situations were it is needed... it's like running an engine at 125% all the time... it beats harder, and doesn't sound very well after some time....
I hope you get a stimulant... it is more what you need...

Awesome! Come on everyone, let's think of more stuff.
How about...."you'll spend more time on the toilet than on your homework."
You'll focus on your health and not your work.
You'll lose weight and self-awareness.
