Does Beer make you Hyper? | ADHD Information

i don't think beer makes me hyper. When i've drunk one or two, i feel more normal, as if my brain was balanced, thats why so many adhd ppl are addicted to alcohol. but i use to drink more, i obviously get drunk and start acting very weirdly and usually fall asleep within two hours.

That is exactly like me.... but if i wake up after like 3 hours sleep, I am totally hyper...

Yah beer makes me REAL hyper at first, and then I get tired.  I haven't had a drink or 2(or5 lol) in a while.

I get drunk way too quick now I've been on medication. I feel sick after about 3 or 4, drunk by 2! I used to be able to drink waaay more when I was in high school though.

I feel not so much hyper as a bit of out control... my body feels like it is reacting to it. Anyone else get this?
I haven't had a drink since 1987. Good for you! I always drank beer because I was a funner drunk when I had beer.  I laughed a lot more, and probably was more hyper.  I never had a good drunk from hard liquor.  I thought it made me depressed, it tasted nasty, and wasn't a good thing.

I used to wake up about 5:00 a.m. after a night of partying (no matter what time I got to bed).  I had to pee, but I felt jittery and wound up.  There was no way I could get back to sleep.  Ewww... don't miss that feeling a bit! Michele...was that after drinking beer or hard liquor...what you just described about not being able to get back to sleep? Because that's exactly what I was talking about, and why I have always believed alcohol was actually a stimulant.
Awwww thanks!  It is one of my greatest accomplishments I think!  I wanted to answer your question about the waking up at 5:00 a.m.  I have to say that I woke up like that after a night of drinking beer. I probably did after hard liquor also, but I don't recall.  I honestly don't think I drank hard liquor more than every once in a while because I hated it so.

Congratulations on your sobriety also!  Isn't life so much easier this way? I can't imagine where I'd be if I still was drinking amongst the other things I have wrong with me!

I still haven't figured out how to do that quoting like all of you do!  Sorry for the jumbled up quote above.

Oh, and I meant to say Beer making me more hyper... and thank you Wren for taking the time.

Oh men! I was supposed to be ready two hours ago, and my husband is here!!!!

bye everyone!
Gypsy, Alchohol is a depressant. The way it would make you hyper woiuld be depressing inhibitions.

Yes, Wren, you may be right. I just remember being told that by a doctor once (although I know you can't believe everything doctors tell you! ), and that was the reason it woke you up during the night, even tho it "calmed" one down when actually consuming the alcohol. I definitely agree with how it depresses inhibitions. Although, its effects are also in connection with any thing else one may be taking. Stimulants, tobacco, other meds, etc. GypsyWomyn38433.7233217593Gypsy, Alchohol is a depressant. The way it would make you hyper woiuld be depressing inhibitions.

That said, beer doesn't make me anything, except drunk. I'll do the same stuff, only maybe a bit louder or riskier.

Gypsy, you are always so kind! You are also the only who answers to my crazy #$* posts ....Yeah!... I am definatelly a weirdo!

My husband told me beer makes more hyper... does this happen to anyone else?

off the the Motley Crue concert!

From what I remember those many years ago I was still drinking....yes, beer would make me more hyper....and perhaps put me to sleep faster, but would inevitablly wake me up during the night, and not necessary it just to pee. I know it is a stimulant, like any alcohol.

Ivette...who does your husband say it makes more hyper, you or him? Does he also have ADHD?GypsyWomyn38433.6976967593
