Just started on concerta | ADHD Information
I just started concerta and am at the 54mg dose. I'm not feeling more focused and feel weird and gittery. Could this be from the amount of coffee I drink? Should I avoid things like caffeine and not take AllegraD?. I'm thinking that these may be making me feel overstimulated? Any suggestions?MrsMikey...it's extremely possible the jitters you're experience are because of the coffee you're drinking and AllegraD, it sounds like you may be overstimulated.
When I first started on Concerta (18mg, then 36mg), it was recommened I eat several small meals a day, even if I have no appetite, drink LOTS of water, and cut back or even stop the caffeine, pop, coffee...in any form. You may get a headache, which I think is more from withdrawal of caffeine, but you may also just get one from the Concerta...but it should go away shortly.
Do you sleep well at night, or even get to sleep? I know you said you just started, but wondered how long you've been taking Concerta? So, I imagine if you do stop the coffee (I now only have one in morning, and that's it) and AllegraD, you will probably feel less jittery.
Welcome to the Board!
I started concerta a week ago (18mg) and I feel weird and jittery as well. The first two days were very uncomfortable, not i just feel an odd sensation that i have meds in my body.
I still drink a cup of coffee in the morning, it really has no impact one way or the other. Coffee generally mellows me out. My Doc says i won't see an increase in concentration etc. if any until 3 weeks or so in to it. Since i have never taken an ADD med she has me on the low dose.
Whenever I have been off of it, the first couple days back on make me worse than usual. After that it really kicks in and things are great; but, yes, those first few days I am extremely scattered, uneasy, and fidgety.
