jittery from concerta and caffeine | ADHD Information
My Dr. told me Caffeine am the devil.... so, I eliminated it when I went on ritalin. I haven't had the problems you describe and don't miss the caffeiene at all
When I worked up to 54 mg of Concerta, I began to have TMJ and the
muscles on my jaw started to tighten up (subconsciously!) Had to cut
out caffeine. Later shifted to Straterra. Granted, Straterra doesn't
have the "push" of a stimulant but it enabled me to concentrate without
the "drive". There is no problem sleeping with Straterra. Still, I
think I will return to concerta in smaller dosage when I need the
"drive".
I'm glad you;re calling your doctor of your lack of sleep with the
54mg. It took me several weeks to work up to 54mg. I was told that
since each individual is different, one needs to find out what dosage
is optimal - more is definitely not always better. Believe me. Good
luck. Z
Caffeine, nicatine, citrus influence the absorbtion of drugs. Lessens it.Take this later after meds in body or do away with. Thanks to those who replied to my original message. I am going to cut out the caffeine and not take Allegra D because of the additive stimulant effect of the pseudoephredrine in it. I took my 54 mg dose this morning. I have been on Concerta just over a week and my psychiatrist started me on 18mg/day with increases of 18mg every 3 days. She predicted that I would need 56 to 72 mg for my dose. If I can tolerate the 56mg, I am supposed to increase to 72 mg tomorrow. I am going to call her this morning and tell her about my side effects. By the way, I couldn't sleep last night even with taking Deseryl which I've been on for years for sleep. I need sleep because I have a sinus infection and am also taking Zithromax. I suppose I have to be patient with the medication. I'm just hoping that I will be able to sleep because I have to work 12 hour shifts on the weekend. Any feedback would be much appreciated. 100% grapefruit juice adds to the affectivenss of Rit, ADer, amd concerta.
