Any Adults Dx’d and Medicated as a Child? | ADHD Information
When I was a kid I would divide my bedroom room into 1 ft 'squares' and play a tape. I had to tidy one square every song. This is a VERY weird way of cleaning but it worked, because it broke the task into manageable pieces, and had the novelty of the music to make me rush and keep me from getting distracted until it was done. Otherwise, I would start playing with everything I pick up.
Eliza, did you know you were AD(H)D as a child? Did anyone give you the idea to clean your room using the 'tape method'? Excellent idea. Even for an adult, yesirree! It's just I didn't know of my 'disorder' when I was a child (only THE disorder, my mess!)

I'm going to try this today...CD's cuts can be pretty long, tho.
My topic:
I'm interested if there are any of you who were diagnosed AD(H)D and medicated as a child. If you were, did you manage to fit as square peg in a round world? Or did you still have difficulty keeping friends, jobs, relationships etc.?
OR
If you were diagnosed as a child, but NOT medicated before adulthood, how did you cope? Did you learn or teach yourself skills to focus, etc.??? GypsyWomyn38438.522974537Tape method?Sorry ADDing, over looking the obvious. I see now that u did explain.

wow, this sounds very efficient, and easy to do. I think I'm gonna go home and try this, it would probably work for me because I am in an unmedicated (due to pregnancy) state, and I work best to music anyway...
thanks for this tip!
sonya_h38439.58125Also, you who are ADD with out the 'hyper'...I know you may be 'inattentive' at times, unable to focus on the task at hand, but do your minds also spin out of control? I'm ADHD, and my attention is always on everything at once, and is probably why I've had difficuty developing better skills to 'work around' the obstacles and difficulties while growing up. Had I 'stood still' mentally and physically long enough to think things out, who knows how different things may have been. However, better late than never!
