I've never given it much thought. I treat food as fuel, and shovel it in as fast as I can so I can get it over with and move on to something else.
I'm not a pretty sight with a plate of food...

It's been brought to my attention on more than one occaision that I always finish one item on my dinner plate before moving on to the next.
I attribute it to having it drilled into my head as a child (as I'm sure we all have had done) to "Finish what you are doing before going on to the next thing".
Does anyone else out there do this or am I just a freak
. No actual harm that I can see comes from this behavior, but I am curious.
However, I certainly don't. I've always liked, and still do, to not only eat my food by going from one item to the next...and around and around, until everything is gone, but I also like to mix things up, like mixing my meat (cut up) with my veggies or taters. Or I mush everything up together.
That's why I probably enjoy casseroles so much.
In any case, bon apetite!Sometimes I eat one thing at a time and sometimes I don't.
I do whatever I feel like whenever I feel like, perhaps that is my problem!
As a child I was VERY VERY SLOW eating dinner, sometimes because I was too busy talking but mostly I just ate slowly while others were eating fast. My family would eat dinner, get up, do the dishes and leave the kitchen and I would still be at the table by myself, finishing my pasta.
I would love to be able to finish one thing before I started another.
I too, love my casseroles.
Speaking as LSD' wife does food have rules? I was told after we were married food has rules mashed potatoes must have gravy for example. Canned vegetables do not exist, and he does not like certain textures of foods. Just curious
I was told after we were married food has rules mashed potatoes must have gravy for example.
Nah, mashed potatos are nice with butter - or better still ketchup!

Where else do vegetables come from?
One thing at a time. Hottest thing first before it gets cold. Don't like my food to touch other food on the plate. My daughter has add too but she's not particular about eating.

Yep, same with me...I don't notice it as much these days but I do the same thing. Like I will eat all the McDonald's fries out of the box first cuz thats the only thing that tastes bad cold.
Of course food has to match. You can have roast beef and mashed potatoes: but not roast beef and fried okra. Fried chicken goes with fries: but not with broccoli. Just about any meat goes with fries. You can sort m&m's by color before eating them. And never put more than one color in your mouth at a time. You get the idea.
