Fidgeting or Rocking | ADHD Information

I think I'm the ADD "innattentive" type but I do notice that I also bounce my leg when I'm sitting in my chair.  I can recall doing this since I was in elementary school and I'm a 29 y/o college student(I know, I can't seem to get ONE DEGREE DONE)!!!!!!

Oh, and about this inattentive type/hyperactivity, is there any way one could be a combo of a little of both?  Sometimes I think I'm impulsive, a little hyper and I get board with many things. For example, I usually hate being around people at weddings or baby showers unless I was drinking because I would be so bored.  Well, a little anxious too.  Oh, and a movie has to be SUPER interesting or else forget it!

But I do like to read though(interesting things that is), like these forums!!!

Yes.... the ADHD Predominantly Inattentive Type and Predominantly Impulsive/Hyperactive Type is more a scale... not black or white, but black to white.... different shades of gray.... :)

My legs constantly bounce. People have gotten mad at me because I end up bouncing the whole table. I also tap my fingers if I'm not doing anything with my hands.

In grade school, my teachers always complained because I never sat in my desk. I'd be propping myself on a knee in my chair; or standing by my desk, leaning over and doing my work; or just wandering in circles around it. I got sent to the corner more than once for this.
ritalin has helped me  even as an adult  if I dodnt take it   my pen is tapping  and both legs are going 500 mi an hr and i'm swimming in my sit  with a desire to leave either work or school depending where i am   with no real destination in mind. With Ritalin it's pretty manageable. I catch my leg on occasion and actually stop shaking it and no longer leave work bored to the point of pain[QUOTE=Taag Man]

That's what I thought, thanks Tag Man!

I used to bounce my leg in my chair in high school. As an adult, if I am sitting at home I tend to rock without a rocking chair. I don't realize I do it, so whoever is living with me says I am a retard. 8( I just cannot hold myself still that long without feeling aggitated.Hyperactivity. You are very smart though, it could be that you just get bored easily and need more stimulation. Reizende, at least you're still in the chair.   I'd probably do better to sit and rock, because my getting up and down like a yo-yo drives my friends even more crazy!   Drives me a little nuts, too.   Maybe I can try to rock (as slow as possible) when I get that urge to get up.

I usually sit on my legs... I do not know why, but they do not feel as tense that way.... or I cross my legs, and move the one feet around all the time.... and then there is the bouncing with the leg...

When I need to sleep i rock... I move back and forth... it relaxes my muscles, and makes me sleepy... my mother said that I had my own room when i was 9 month because they could not sleep for the rocking...
