mrsmikey, do you have help developing systems to accomodate your ADD? I have friends who are very organized help me set up systems for dealing with emails, calls, filing, rading, etc. which I have found to be very beneficial. When i don;t have to deal with setting up the structures to keep me focused, and i can just deal with the tasks at hand i don't get so overwhelmed.

I want to let you know that I am a nurse who has just been diagnosed with ADD.  I am currently a graduate student trying to finish my degree to become a mental health/psychiatric nurse practitioner and am really struggling.  I have an incomplete from last summer because I can't get started on my term paper.  I'm having extreme difficulty concentrating for the reading for my current class and am really behind.  I was started on Concerta almost 2 weeks ago and am having trouble with the side effects and still cannot concentrate.  Nursing school is hard work.  I graduated from nursing school 18 years ago and now that I look back the only way I could get things done then was at the very last minute and pulling all nighters.  This isn't working for me in graduate school.  I work full time also.  Don't give up your dream.  If you have any questions at all about nursing school don't hesitate to email me.  I can totally relate to your frustration.
