Insurance Discrimination | ADHD Information
Hello, This is my first time here my son is 8 years old with severe behavioral problems their has been three doctors that has recommended residential treatment however due to him being on Medicaid we have been going through lots of red tape, we have exhausted all therapies that he has we even went to court he has been backer acted four times in last five months by the police, the attorneys say it a bureaucratic problem, at this he is a danger to him self and to others but when he is sent to the Hospital the keep him there for three days and let him go. There has to be higher person with authority besides the Children's Medical Service Any suggestions? It is unfortunate how the system works. When they feel someone is stable enough they let them go to save a few bucks. Where do you live? I live in Buffalo and know our medicaid system is almost bankrupt now and is in bad shape. I have also 7 years mental health experience and 3 working with the developmentally disabled. I know there are residential places available here such as Conners children center and Gateway both work with emotional behavioral problems. They also help you and your child work together so you may all live again under one roof. While in the program they teach them coping mechanisms and what they need to know in the real world. I did a field placement at Conners for 6 months and loved it. The medicaid system plain sucks and people fall through the cracks. I am sorry you are going through all of this and wish I could be of more help. Good luck
