My son has gone through all the ADHA meds for three years now and I was sick of the whole thing yet my son could not function without the meds. I know this sounds off the wall but on Easter Sunday my mother in law gave me an article on ADHD and the seizure med Ditantin. It was written by a Dr. in California. I took the article to the doctor that prescribes his meds and I asked the doctor to please try him on Ditantin. Well he has taken it for 3 days now and what a positive effect it has had on him. I almost do not reconize him anymore. He seems so nornal now compared to his active self that I am so used to. He takes 100mg once a day. This article claims that if taken in a lower dose than what you would take for a seizure than it slows the activity in the brain so the ADHD child can think  before reacting. The hardest thing is to get your doctor to try it because the FDA does not reconize it as an ADHD drug. Believe me, it has been working so far. The first day it was like he didn't take any meds and he acted up in school but by the evening he was doing better. The next day at school he was better than the first day and today he was great all day. The doctor told me that if it was to work it would take about a week before he would do better but it definetely seems to be working and better than any ADHD meds he has taken in the last 3 years. Also it last all day and the evening unlike the ADHD stuff that wares off later in the afternoon. If you have any questions I'll be glad to talk to you about it.

I have a little girl whom is 7 years old,she was on concerta for 2 years for her ADHD,and they had increased it to 54 mg because the 36 mg was not working and she had become irate.Since they took her off of the concerta she has been through a lot of medication changes and she has now been on ritalin LA 10mg for 5 days. She seems to beable to sit still for more than 30 seconds at a time but a friend of mine and I noticed lastnight that her eyes are twitching pretty bad.Has anyone experienced this? What do I do?Im still waiting on the doctor to call back. She is also on clonidine(2 x 0.1 mg)and melatonin 3 mg for bedtime and she still falls asleep within a hour but she is wide awake and wired for sound within 2-3 hours tops.I just do not know what way to turn or what to do.Please help with any advice you may have.i am very aware that everyone reacts to medication differently but if you have any advice on what to do medication wise also please help me by giving your advice.
