Started Strattera in Feb, quit at 60mg/day after about 7 weeks.
blood pressure up 180/110 for 1 week now since stopping it.
Saw a post here where patient continued to take it wiyj BP
control medications - could not find post - stupid idea. My doc
initially advised me to do the same. to which i growled. never
had BP before. I am suspecting that I am one of 7% caucasians
who fails to metabolize the drug - I suspect that it is
accumulating in tissue - If you BP is up. stop taking the stuff!!! I started strattera three days ago. In the first hour I had racking nausea, but my brain had calmed down nicely. Day two, fine. Day three:This morning, my mind seemed focused and lucid, my impulsive ideas on halt ,but several hours later  I feel sort of nauscious and nerveous.  (Blood Pressure?)
Still I'm more focused than normal.  I used to be consumed with every idea, and hadn't any perspective or sense of time.  It was as though  everything was in the foreground or didn't exist. Now, nerveous and uncomfortable, I can percieve there IS a succession of days, each of which can hold a list of things to be accomplished. I've written out lists and lists of things and am starting to have a sense of the unfolding of time. Or is this sheer delusion?
Yesterday I delt with two bills that had been hanging over me for months.
I have the innatention type, just (self)diagnosed,. My dose is the beginner's 40mg. Please don't say I'm one of those 7% that can't metabolize it!

Just but a blood pressure monitoring kit. Manual costs 20 bucks, Digital about 60 at CVS. increased adrenergic stimulation will increase heart rate.  I like adderall because you take it as you need it. Strattera therapy is chronic (every time). I aslo suspect thta amphetamines cause increased glutamate transmitter release in addition to stimulating NE release (which Strattera does).. NE simply strengths the glutamate transmission that is already there.

Acute (one time) admin of Strattera will increase the time required for its elimination (half of it) to up to 40 hours.

Never been a proublem for our son so far.7% Caucasians , 1% Africans can't metabolize the stuff, or
metabolize it poorly. Your son is fine of course.. I've read of
people who have been advised to persist on the drug,
regardless. That seems ill advice indeed.
