maybe the high dose of strattera over shadows the low dose of dextro.....
dextro is a "true" stimulant, and when you initially begin taking the stimulant you should notice it in your system within a few minutes. However, your dr. has you on the safest and lowest dose. I've tried dextro, but it didn't do much for me. I needed at least 20mg in order to feel it and the stimulant effects wore off pretty quickly - but, I take high doses of Adderall daily - I metabolize really quickly, so the meds aren't in my system for very long.
Do you feel "numb" on Strattera - like you can't think or hold a thought in your head at all?? If so, thats an indication of over-medicating.

With strattera no I dont feel numb or anything at all but I have a very slow metabolsim also I know so dont know if this would make a difference or not with this.
My doc is very precautious and starting me out always on lower doses of all and then working way up.
What you said about Dextr.. is what she was telling me that within minutes you will notice it and yes it is short active but will see here might have to raise that some also but I only that that so far right before Im doing lots of college work or will try for test here also next week.
Im not one for all these pills and trying different ones every 2 weeks for some it seems but I just want to find something that will help me with what I need it for. That is good about the dose and being safe this has really bothered me here.
Hope to see some results soon with some kind of meds. It just floors all some of my friends that are on dosages of like addreall of only 20mg and even when I tried that I was up to a high dose and just nothing.
My doc says that from anything you should notice just something then if you do will bump it up if needed but just nothing and my friends and even doc says that when we do find the right med you will notice it when it works. Till then I keep praying that a miracle will come along and one will work soon. I have soo many test to take here and there and just fusterating for me for my studying.

Here I am back on the boards again has been awhile just too much going on here and gone on vacation for 9 days.
Well, now Im trying Strattera and up to this weekend it will be 80mg and then next week she said will bump up to the max of 120mg.
Has anyone ever heard of taking this much of this meds for ADHD? Im 44 here and attending college for some classes and I just cant focus, concentrate, comprehend what the teacher says when alls some of them do is stand up in front and lecture I cant learn this way and for reading comprehension as I want to know what I read after a few times not 20 times and for taking test at college or even at home for online courses I dont want to have to study for 2 to 4 weeks for 1 darn test and still get a low grade of a "C" or "D" maybe.
She also started me with strattera "Dextroamphetamine" at 10mg just 3 times of day when Im studying so this is day 1 and not anything yet I dont notice and she said I should notice something with this after I take it within about 15 minutes.
Any advice would be great?

MY SON (16)IS ALSO ON STRATERRA 80MG PER DAY. AT FIRST I NOTICED IT HELPED HIM FOCUS BETTER IN SCHOOL AND THE CONDUCT PROBLEMS WERE BETTER. HE COULD SIT, BUT IT HASN'T REALLY HELPED HIS COMPREHENSION OR LONG TERM FOCUS OR STUDYING. HIS GRADES ARE STILL SUFFERING BECAUSE OF THIS AREA. WE ARE GOING TO TRY TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND I THINK WE WILL GO TO ADDERELLRX. TAKING ONCE A DAY IS A MUST FOR HIM, SINCE HE WILL NEVER REMEMBER TO TAKE IT OTHERWISE. WE HAD TRIED TO UP THE DOSE ONCE TO 120MG BUT IT CHANGED HIS WHOLE PERSONALITY AND HE WAS VERY COMBATIVE TO EVERYONE! HOPE WE ALL GET THIS FIGURED OUT SOON!!!
