Adderall XR & Strattera together | ADHD Information

My 9 yr old son has been taking adderall XR for 3 years.  The adderall peaks in the middle of the day and he ends up zoning out or daydreaming at school.  Because of this, his grades are affected because he missed the instructions from the teacher.  So, basically his focus isn't there.

The pediatrician wants to add strattera to my sons medication.  We tried strattera before a couple of years ago for a month.  I loved it.  He woke up in a better mood, & he was a happier kid.  Less depressed.

I am concerned about having more than one medication in my son's system.  Am I over reacting?  Should I be concerned?  Has anyone else had experience with both medications at the same time?

My son has been taking this combination for about a year.  It has had a really good influence on him.  He could not take the dosage of Adderall XR that was beneficial for his concentration because he could not sleep.  When we dropped the dosage the effectiveness was diminished.  The combination has improved the Adderalls performance and also diminished his rebound when the Adderall wears off.  You still noticed his hyperactivity returning but his behavior and impulsive behaviors are still controlled.

Best Wishes.  Gettingagrip
