lexapro and ritalin

Hey, my first time on here. Was switched by my doctor to lexapro(cipralex here in canada). She hadnt heard of it since it was only aproved in Canada on Dec 24/04, so i looked it up and brought her the info and she thought it was worth a try. I suffer from depression, ocd, anxiety and add, quite a fun combo. I sometimes wonder how many of thesse disorders emerge from previous conditions, but just wondering if anyone had a good expierence with lexapro and ritalin. My dose is 10mg lexapro and 20 slow release of ritalin. ritalin definately helped as a kid growing up, but i worry sometimes of being too drugged up, i joke with my doctor that i could sell my urine on the black market...so any advice would be much apreciated...cherrs

Hi, I wish I was from Canada that way the meds would be cheaper.  I came across your post when I was doing some research myself. I just so happen to be on 10 mg of lexipro and 20mg of ritalin LA.  I have a simular diagnoses as you do. I find the lexipro to work well. I was on paxil before and the lexipro works better with less of the side effect, such as trouble sleeping and sexual side effects. You also don't have to take as much of the lexipro when I was on the PAxil I was on 20mg.

Don't worry about being on to meds. some of us need it and if you have a good doctor that is looking out for your best interest and not just handing you meds. You should be fine and it would not hert to try it. I just remendered another think. I felt effects with the lexipro in less than a week and the paxil took three weeks, but like with any anti depressant it take around three weeks to feel the full effects.

I want to change the type of rilalin that I am on and that was what I was looking for, how long the short tern ritalin stays in your body. Have you ever been on that kind? I and 24 and weight aound 140 so not sure if it will be to expesive to take 4 or 5 of them a day. How does the SR work for you? FOr me the LA work good for about 2 to 3 hours then I am arritable for 30 min to an hour with a little vertigo, then for the next hour to 3 hours.

I don't feel that much more focused, but more like I drink 3 red bulls yet with a light fatige. I believe this happens because the LA is made up of two different types the one that is abusorped right away and the long tern type. I think that when then short tern runs out the long term kicks in and does not agree with me. It must be the margin of the butter and I just want butter. Well I hope some of this was a help to you.

10 mgs per day of Lexapro saved my life. I am bi-polar and went from
suicidal to feeling great. Now, after 1 year I am getting a little manic.
Do I cut down on the Lexapro ?

Hi there,

I just read your post and I was hoping we could share our thoughts. Like yourself I suffer from ADHD, OCD, Depression, and anxiety issues. I am 30, also gay,  and live in Canada. Hope we can chat and maybe help each other. Take care!

For those looking to immigrate here to Canada (you can if you like though) - there are options.  The laws are still grey on cross-border meds.  You can find a dozen good internet Rx shops online.  They take your Rx over the internet, then phone you to confirm who you are.

They are legit and are a very low portion of the cost down south.  Until the US stops lobbying with billions on capital hill - this is your best option.

hi i am new to this and have just been diagnosed with ocd. I also have been diagnosed with add.  . What is a good medicine to take ??  I am also gay and live in tennessee at the monent Just a FYI guys (and gals of course).. do NOT take St. John's Wort with Lexapro or it's generic, Citalopram! The same goes for Melatonin. It seriously reacts with each other and can result in a coma. This is experience talking here as one of my workers ended up like that.. doctors usually do NOT warn about this (however, info from the pharmacy would). So, PLEASE be careful!

Another thing, Citalopram is VERY cheap compared to Lexapro.. where my (VERY good) insurance charged me $35 for a month of Lexapro, the Citalopram costs me $6.75 a month

HoustonLeo77, I have had very good results with Adderall XR 30mg, Klonopin (Clonozepam (sp?) is it's generic) and Lexapro/Citalopram. However, the only person who can really tell you what meds to take is your doctor, every case of AD/HD is different and people react different to the various meds.. I suggest you consult with your psychiatrist/physician instead of going by what works for us here on the forums.
Hemmie38877.0948263889I'm on citalopram and it has been great for me. I was put on it for depression but it helped with my anxiety and ocd a lot too. All the negative thoughts and horrific daydreams were much easier to dismiss for what they really were once I started on it.I am 20 years old. I use lexapro for two months i must say great anxiety and depression are gone. I found Lexapro online on google i must say great medicine also for young people.Lexapro help me
