Is it ADD or hypothyroidsm? | ADHD Information

I have mild hypothyroidism (not related to ADD/ADHD) and I can tell you that almost everyone has the same reaction to reading the symptoms of thyroid disease.  It definately affects a wide range of things, however a simple blood test should tell you if you have it.

There is a blood test that can be done to determine both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.  I had the test.  It came out negative.  If you think you might have it I suggest you ask you physician to order the blood test.

My family has history on both sides. I have hypothyroidism. When the dosage isn't right I know unable to do anything at all. These are also autoimmune disorders. I am on a daily auto immune builder. I get that from Melaleuca. Our sons  is being checked this month. Our Dr. has had kids with it also.Hi,
I've been getting treatment for ADD, primarily inattentive for about a year. I take Adderall and have continuous psychotherapy. I was surfing the net the other day and came across the condition of hypothyroidism and thought it sounded eerily creepy compared to my signs and symptoms of ADD: constant fatigue, difficulty paying attention, forgetfulness, etc. There are also a few that I think apply to me such as cold intolerance. Does anyone know anything about the connection between hypothyroids and ADD? Is it ADD or hypothyroidism?
Thanks! :)

IMO, EVERY person going to get diagnosed for ADD/HD should be tested for a thyroid problem and anxiety first, if your Dr didn't test you for these things without being told, maybe you should get a better MD! Sheesh, they ran a million tests on me.
