bitchy AND a spammer.
As The Resistance! I join buccaneer in punishing spammers.
Your sentence: shoving your superior "see you are too stupid to read my post right" attitude up yer arse.
You may not believe this fellow AD/HDers, but I...yes I...GypsyWomyn, took them up on their offer for the 4-month complimentary membership. I've signed up and have already spent some time looking things over and tried a few exercises. I will, as was requested, post my honest evaulation to you folks on this Board when I find I have formulated an opinion. And you know that I'm not working for anyone trying to get your membership, and you can trust me. Right? You better trust me ~ you're my friends. Right?
Constantbattle....I know they like evaluations on the site also, but I may limit mine to this Board, unless there's something I really feel necessary to share on the site. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to utilizing that membership.
BTW, did anyone else take that free offer??
It's actually FUN!
GypsyWomyn38449.391400463This will be my final post here because I really didn't appreciate the
overall negativity/victim mentality of this group. No one said
this was the be-all and end-all. No one said this would be
helpful to everyone. As a previous post said, ADHD is a complex
condition. It's unlikely that one therapy would be helpful for
all. Since I believe MBT has been helpful to me, I thought I'd
pass on the info and perhaps it might help someone else. And,
personally, I can never understand the reluctance that so many have to
paying for something you find on the Internet. I certainly don't
like to waste money, but come on. You make it sound like this
expenditure will put you in the poorhouse. Ten bucks to try
something for 4 months isn't going to break the bank for anyone who
owns a computer and has an Internet connection.
Anyway, I contacted MyBrainTrainer to make them aware of this "discussion". The president asked me to post his response:
1. MyBrainTrainer was developed as a consumer brain exercise site.
2. We make no representations whatsoever that MBT will be useful for those with ADHD or any other medical condition.
3. Anyone with ADHD or any other medical condition should be under the
care of a physician experienced in the treatment of such condition.
4. If any of our members find MBT to be helpful to them, whether in
their job, or schoolwork, or chess playing, etc., or find
it helps ease any of their physical or cognitive problems, they're of
course welcome (and encouraged) to post details on our message
board. If any of these testimonials are from a scientifically or
medically reputable groups, we may give their posting prominent
positioning on our site (as we did with the Marshall University quote).
5. We would be pleased to offer 4-month complimentary memberships to
the first ten readers of this board who contact us at
info@mybraintrainer.com. All we ask in return is that you post
your honest evaluation (whether good, bad or indifferent) on this ADHD
board.

LOL!!!

....so true...
But also, I GROW WEARY OF UNEDUCATED PEOPLE TRYING TO SELL STUFF LIKENING OUR BRAINS TO A "WEAK MUSCLE THAT NEEDS TO BE EXCERCISED"...
AD/HD FAR MUCH MORE THAN THIS...SIMPLE EXCERCISES FOR A DISORDER AS COMPLEX AS AD/HD WILL PROBABLY NOT WORK.
ANYONE WHO WAS TRUELY EDUCATED ABOUT AD/HD, A PROFFESSIONAL ON THE DISORDER, AND REALLY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS.

I was interested. Tell me what you do in that 20 minutes.
Actually it sounds reasonable. The most upbeat non medical
treatment for ADD is to have a coach that keeps you on track-for 15
minutes a day. Of course the coach is addressing your personal
goals, organizing skills- etc but maybe this hones
your faculty for self-coaching.
This
might interest you and is free- a series of perceptual tests. http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/index.html
I took a fasinating class on mind/bevavior that used
the latest neurological research -. I use the library extensively,
never buy anything, but my teacher had taken a Seligman internet class
for 00 and was currently doing a 0 a month seminar. (We're not
the only folks targeted. Self-help and diets are Huge!). The
frustrating thing was that I couldn't implement anything I
learned in the class.
Now, day 3 of taking Strattera, I feel some dim ghost of an
executive function emerging in my brain. Before, I got
hyperfocused on one idea after another, but couldn't keep anything
straight.
My hope now is that I have an intact enough brain (with
medication) to begin to exercise it like normal people do. Like a
muscle.
I say Try everything you can and report back to us!

I grow weary of these...
Page D4 - "Therapies to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
that use mental and physical exercises, rather than medication, to
improve concentration are gaining popularity among people worried about
drug side effects." Interesting stuff. I had posted a
number of months ago about a website I found, which I use and highly
recommend (http://www.mybraintrainer.com). Cost is only .95 for
4 months unlimited use (I use it about 20 minutes per day, so that
comes to less than a penny per minute). Here's a testimonial from
the site:
"I work with medical students and physicians who are experiencing
academic difficulties. Many of these people have learning disabilities
and/or ADHD. They have weaknesses in the areas MyBrainTrainer.com
specifically targets. I have already received many positive comments
about the program. I hope to continue using this with my future
classes, as I feel that these students need to get their brains "in
shape" just as an athlete would get their bodies in shape. We will
hopefully continue to use your services in the future."

They've also got a study posted from the University of Texas that shows increase in cognitive speed.
Good luck to all. I'm not trying to sell anything to
anybody. I'm just letting you know something tha I have found
helpful.

Classic!
I wonder if we may look like a vulnerable population - and, therefore, perhaps targeted prey.
I just don't like anything I have to pay for when theres plenty of support groups available that will help teach us how to deal with our daily environment.
Just curious - what is it you grow weary of? Statements from
reputable universities that say here's something that will cost you
ten bucks that we have found to be helpful?
Sounds like you're ready to give up. Not me. If you know of
any other inexpensive non-drug treatments with testimonials from
reputable sources, then please list them here. I'll happily track
them down and try them.
constantbattle38447.7921180556What a load of absolutely unscientific drivel.
As Buccaneer I officially sentence you to 50 lashes with my virtual cat
'o nine tails for trying to plug some misleading scheme. Next
time you commit the same offence...I'm gonna have to make you walk the
plank!
Snake Oil alert!!
I haven't looked at all into this program but the .95 a month thing kind of turns me off too. For stuff that has really been studied and tested try out www.advancedbrain.com
Hi Gypsy Womyn,
Is there still a free trial. Please do report back what you find- and do.
Hi Martindale! The following is what I received when I emailed them and asked how to get the complimentary 4-month membership:
You know it's free because we're not asking you for any money or for a credit card number.
There is no download.
Here's how to obtain your free 4-month membership:
1) go to http://www.mybraintrainer.com
2) click on "Sign up Now" at the top of the page.
3) You will automatically be taken to the Terms of Use for the site. If you agree to these terms, click on Accept.
4) You will then be taken to a page that checks to see if you have MacroMedia's Flash installed on your computer. If you can see the MyBrainTrainer logo, click on Yes.
5) You will then be taken to the Registration page. Enter the requested personal information (e-mail address, password, etc.), and then choose "I will use the Gift Membership indicated below." Then enter the following information:
Name on Gift Membership: ADHD
Activation Code: AZPBDFPLIR
6) Click on "Sign Up" at the bottom of the page
Martindale, or anyone else who is interested, if that activation code doesn't work, I would directly email Bruce C. Friedman at info@mybraintrainer.com, which is what I did to get the above information. But I suspect the Name: ADHD and Activation Code may be the same for all of us. He'll send you a welcome email and suggest which exercises may work best for 'us.' But I've been playing with most of them.
I suppose it could help with focusing and memory, if used on a regular basis. I do find sometimes if I'm tired, I can't comprehend the instructions to some of the exercises. But I keep going back. It's fun to see your own 'history' of results, and compare them. I also find it is good practice for concentration.
Good luck!

Constantbattle,
all the comments are as a result of reading and listening for years to the latest
Miracle treatment that has not yet got Sufficient, Multi-Centred, Research that
replicates findings in each case.
If you have something that is meeting your needs "Great" but please be
aware the other newer methodologies are far from Sufficiently Proven yours
included. Thank you though for sharing the news with us though.
