Screwed up at work again | ADHD Information
3 times in 2 days. 8( I was doing so well just doing customer service my manager promoted me in May of 2004. Of course its easy to excel at answering the phone and stuffing envlopes. Now I am doing enough work that even a normal person would forget, and screwing up badly when distracted, or taking twice as long to get it done. I actually care about not messing it all up, but I often have feelings like I wish they could just fire me and get it over with. I am poor at managing my money and can't afford getting official ADHD diagnosis and treatment yet. I look back and try to recall what I have been spending my money on. I just can't remember. I have been belittled all of my life to the extent that I have "I've gotta be right" syndrome. I will research a dead issue to make sure I wasn't wrong. Sometimes for an hour. If I moved back it would look bad since my mananger said some people said I wasn't competent to do the work. I showed them they were wrong, but I have serious issues with memory, attention, organization...well you know the story : ) Luckily, I don't have the time to sit and research my every mistake or nothing would get done at all. 8(

Oh boy, can I relate to that! I got thirty quid out of a cashpoint Sunday, and when I looked in my wallet at lunchtime today for some food money, I found said wallet empty.
But I can't remember buying anything!

I remember you mentioning before that you were promoted...I'm wondering if you could have or still can tell them you were happier at your previous position? I don't know if they would be sympathetic ...but if you told them you appreciate the promotion, but you were just better at handling the old job than this one, and if it's possible could they let you go back to what you were doing. ?? They may even agree, if they see you're not doing as well as they had expected. Just a thought. Don't get me wrong, hon...I'm sure your competent, but at least you can admit when something isn't quite working out. I can't follow a recipe and cook my own meals because I starve by the time I am finished going over all the steps. When I go food shopping I am so distracted by all the packages I get frustrated and leave with a bag of Doritos. Of course, by the time the bag is empty I am hungry again and buy stuff that is pre-cooked. Or waste cash at the train station on expensive food.
I used to trick myself with food. I would buy a month's worth of meats & vegetables. Then seperate it into 1 day portions. Then I would microwave 1 per day. It worked in 2000. I also dropped 35 pounds. I just have no car to haul all that food now. I might try it one weekend with a large cart.
Well, hon, you just keeping showing them!
But just in case...and they do try to fire you....and they better not 
...I hope you'll forget that "gotta be right" syndrome and ask if instead they'd give you back your old job. Better than no job, right? Oops, I'm sorry...I'm counting chicks before they're hatched. 
Now my brain is looking at every scenario for you, like I don't have enough of my own to look at.

Hmm.. with current exchange rates, nearer to sixty dollars. But yeah, out of an "atm". It's still all gone though..

"Quid" is slang for "pounds", like "bucks" is slang for "dollars". At least - that's what I assume.I have a fondness for British sitcoms, and have heard the term "quid" many times.

Well, 'pea' is a small, round, green vegetable, and 'knicker' (or 'nicker') is £1 (same as quid).
£5 is a 'fiver' or a 'Lady Godiva', £10 is a 'tenner', £25 is a 'pony', £50 is 'half a ton', £100 is a 'ton', £500 is a 'monkey' and £1,000 is a 'grand'.

I was expected to grow into a commision basis at my job in a year (yes, a YEAR, it is the longest I have ever worked a job, I'm uber proud) So, you figure anyone would want to take the higher paying gig right? NOT me, and I sucked it up and admitted to my boss that I didnt think I would be good at commision sales, it just wasn't my style after seeing my co-workers all year. I expected to be fired or stuck in the same position for another year (which most of us know monotony is hell for ADDer's) But my boss was so excited that I was 'pro-active' and honest that I am basically an entirely new position in the company I work with (with a tad more money even). I know some people work for huge corporations where it's not possible, but hopefully you will be able to work something out, or find a place that works with your strengths. Good luck!
