i think this is something you would have to talk to your doc about. Some meds take a few days to noticably start working, other take a few weeks. Just because you were taking meds, and lost the bottle, does not necessarily mean that those meds were not working. Everything about your ad/hd does not clear up in a few days while you are on meds, some things might not go completely away at all....
like for instance, maybe you found that you were less messy and more able to focus, but still, from time to time, you might still find that you lose something important....it's all part of living with ad/hd. meds are not a cure all, although they do greatly help. You still have to work with yourself, even if you ARE on meds, and find ways and strategies to help yourself....
...For example, if your meds are working, but you still find that you are loosing things, perhaps being on meds, you can more easily stick to routines, and take your meds the same time during the day, and try to put things in the same place, sticking to a routine like this can help you keep from loosing things so much...
A lot of folks here put there meds on their night stand beside there bed, along with a glass of water, and take their meds as soon as they wake up, or an hour before it is time for them to wake up (the meds help them to be able to wake up)...
But talk to your doc. I really don't think a few days is enough to tell whether or not those meds were working for you. And since then, they have come out with new meds, and if you describe yourself to your doc, he may decide that since then, another drug that may have since come out might be more helpful for you and prescribe something else anyway.
