Favorite Movies!!! | ADHD Information
whats your favorite movie?
any recommendation? Feel like renting something
I like just about any kind of movie, depending on my mood, or the mood I wish to get in. But I think I like drama the best.
My favorite movies are: Thelma & Louise, Harold & Maude, The American President, American Beauty, Green Card, Dirty Dancing, and Babe! (I just love that pig! )
I could watch "What about Bob?" over and over again.
I HAVE watched "What About Bob" over and over again!
LOVE it!!!
I like many types of movies except for action and romantic movies. I
HATE romantic movies. They are too cheesy for me. Some of my favorite
movies are Hotel Rwanda, The Addams Family, Lilya 4 Ever, American
Beauty, the Ringu movies. I also like the music and dancing in
Bollywood movies even though I don't understand what they're saying and
I can never remember the titles.

There's a lot more movies on my favorites list but I can't remember them right now.
Pulp Fiction is my favorite. I just saw Sideways last night. My husband and I are huge wine freaks--it was just our speed. The story was amusing; I'd recommend it to even a beer drinker.
I could watch "What about Bob?" over and over again.
I loved Liar Liar with Jim Carrey......and True Lies is a favorite too!ACK Star Wars!
I like sci fi very much usually. I like action. I like adventure. But
the scrolling words in teh beginning scared me. If I wanted to read a
book I would. The friend I was with said- give it a chance. Then
there was some desert with people barely moving. No. Didnt work for me.
Go get "battle royale" for some fast paced (sort of..) adventure stuff.
Please do?
I'll watch just about any kind of movie, as long as it has a good
story. My tolerance for action movies is pretty low though.
They just keep getting worse. It never ceases to amaze me how
much stupid they can fit into an a hour and a half.
I'll throw in my vote for "What About Bob", too. My all time
favorite movie, though, is Gattaca. It's got a great story.
All about people people doing what society insists they are incapable
of. It's got a great tag line too: There Is No Gene For The Human Spirit.
HEy ERIC,
about gattaca-
did you ever notice that the letters gattaca are atcg- the dna letters?
Anyway, thought that was a little interesting thing. Was kinda proud
for realizing that. Was thinking-- what could gattaca mean???
does itr mean anything really?
Is Gattaca one of those 'thinking' movies? Thinking isn't one of my strong points I'm afraid - gimme Rambo anytime.
Yeah, yeah, I know Rambo's rubbish*. I like rubbish.
(*English for garbage)
Mark -
I don't remember
An American movie a lot of people missed that was excellent " The Royal Tennenbaums" comedy
A fantastic Spanish movie " The Devil's Backbone" drama some scares but it's fright not gross
A really great french movie "Queen Margot" Historical epic better than Gladiator
THe first 20 minutes of the Devil's backbone were a little slow then I was completely enmeshed in the movie.
My 3 favorite movies " A life Less Ordinary" Lock, Stock and smoking barrels and Magnolia. The first two are comedies. The third is a drama that has some has a powerful theme of redemption, forgiveness, repricocity, and healing but moves a little slow
An older movie that is awesome I recently saw is "Get Carter" with Michael Caine..don'r get the Sly stallone butchering. THe Original is really, really, really good
Another smaller action/drama flick that wa s really good was " The Limey"
I figuired everyone hears about the big box office flicks but all of the above weren't big box office but were excellent flicks. Skip the french and the Spanish ones if you cant handle subtitles...me I dont even realize I'm reading after a bit

Oh yeah! That's one of my favorites too. It totally slipped my mind when I posted my first reply.

any cartoon.
Shrek, and any Walt Disney cartoon movies...
i never grew up.
sonya_h38449.8790856482LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!! Is the best.
Star Wars! fast paced, loads of things happening - it's a film that could have been made with ADDers in mind!
And Jaws. I always loved that film, but it kinda reminds me of my first wife's mother.
Mark -
I ended up not renting anything because the video store required proof of address and id and I lost my wallet...thought I had it
This was after spending over an hour in the store
Hey TaagMan...where have you been? Haven't seen you a few days.
I have not been that interested in this board for a week or two.. because I have felt offended
Last movies I saw that really knocked me out were "Kinsey" (drama), "Spellbound" (documentary about spelling bees), and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (indescribable). I too can watch "What About Bob" over and over again, in fact most Bill Murray movies over and over again.
I know they're big box office so most people have seen them, but really the movies that get the most repeat viewing in our house are the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies or the X-Men. For a Sci-Fi/Fantasy geek, those are as good as it gets. I know Mark recommended Star Wars and I do have the box of the original trilogy. They did a spectacular job of making those look up-to-date, even though Lucas had to go and screw up some scenes (Han shot first!).
We have rented a lot of TV shows through Netflix lately: Horatio Hornblower, X Files, and now we're about to start Farscape. If you want deeper selection than your neighborhood Blockbuster, I highly recommend Netflix. They even have the original Michael Caine "Get Carter", which my Blockbuster had never heard of.
JerBer38450.3527199074Tough question. I love movies, all movies, old and new any stories. I guess if I had to pick favorites I would go with movies I own and watch all the time. Comedy is usually the one I turn to "Happy Gilmore" then all other Adam Sandler movies and Steve Martin-"Office Space" "half Baked" Van Wilder" "Caddy shack" "Space Balls" "Planes, TRains, and Automobiles"
I liked "Shuan of the Dead" "Big Fish" "Garden State" "Donnie Darko" Man screw this sh*t. I can't pick a fav. I love movies. They are all awesome. Gattaca was an excellent movie- very underrated.
I like anything with aliens or dead bodies. So- sci fi, mystery, crime, thriller/suspense etc.
I rarely like a romantic movie- why? Because I already know how it is going to end, so why watch the stinkin thing???!!
Also, a few girly drama movies, like Steel Magnolias (I am originally a southern girl, so I have no choice but to love this movie!

)Bobel....Magnolia! Excellent movie, yes! Deep.
GarbagePailKid....what did you end up renting?
I own over 130 VHS movies....so they must all be my favorite or I wouldn't own them. (But I think Thelma & Lousie is #1) I'm thinking I should buy a couple more VHS players, in case I can't in the future and mine breaks down. I was given a DVD player, but no way am I going to replace all the movies I have already spent $$$ on AGAIN!

Will just use it to rent movies.
Mark, I have a VHS copy of Rambo - First Blood, but it isn't even 'formatted to fit your screen.' But I still like it! I can't think of his name at the moment, duh...but the readhead guy in CSI Miami (and NYPD) is in that first Rambo.
Bcgirl..."Something About Mary" -- I barely sat through it one time! I only remember laughing when he got stuck in zipper.

Sorry guys!
I love Sci-Fi/Fantasy...
Horror movies is not for me... they don't move me at all... can't stop analyzing them.. hehe
Star Trek, Star Wars and Lord of The Rings are between my favorites... and then movies about war, patriotism and heroism moves me very badly hehe... like Saving Private Ryan
I think I love Star Trek, because of it's creator Gene Roddenbery's positive vision of the future... it's about a better world... focusing on morality and ethics.
Taag Man38450.4578587963I really, really like Sci-Fi...that's why I voted Other this time, assuming it could mean SCI-FI

.
Hey TaagMan...where have you been? Haven't seen you a few days. I liked Gattaca
too. I like anything that gets you thinking about the force of human
spirit - there aren't enough movies/books out there about that anymore.
I LOVE comedies, but they have to a little intelligence in there
somewhere - I never understood the appeal with movies like "There's
something about Mary". People LOVE it, but I have sat through it a
couple of times and not so much as cracked a smile. It's just stupid.
really intelligent movies.
really stupid movies.
well made cartoons.
stylistic violence - like Pulp Fiction or that new Sin City looks like me but it might suck.
Anybody here a kill bill fan?

Why? You are the only person I have seen who has posted anything offensive, with your 'shove it up your ass' post and your anti-American rants.

Actually, TM has a valid reason to feel offended ... and betrayed. What he is referring to is a while back I betrayed the privacy of the Private Messenger by copying something he PMd to me and posting it on the forum. I want to publicly apologize to him for that betrayal. No matter how badly my buttons are pushed, there is no excuse for what I did.
I also want to assure any and all of you that you can trust I will never do that again, to him or anyone else on this Board. I realize how lucky we are to have the PM capability... and it is just that ... 'Private Messaging' ... and should be used exclusively for that purpose. ***TaagMan has graciously accepted my apology.
Now let's hear about some more movies!

GypsyWomyn38452.0306481481i loved the iron giant, what a great movie. the original balto was a good
movie too. another good one, though not animated is second hand lions,
holes was good too.Eric- I loved the Triplets of Belleville! Even now, I cannot get the theme song out of my head!!I love romantic comedies, dramas, comedies, and suspense. Those are the best. Dislike action, except for "Spiderman and Spiderman 2(they are great!!), dislike horror, and dislike a lot of sci-fi. Has anybody seen "Meet the fockers?" I want to see it so bad lol. I heard its hilarious! I have the movie pass for blockbuster and have been renting movies a lot lately. I also love "The Notebook" that was a great movie. I saw Spanglish and it was quite a disappointment. What did you all think of it? or has anyone else seen it yet? I hated "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind." that was one of my least favorite movies ever. I saw gattaca awhile back and that was pretty good. I'm going to rent Vanity Fair next time. Looks great. I saw this movie today called "Kiss the bride". It was okay. I guess I'm very picky with movies. I usually either love movies or hate them. I only find a few that are "ok". I liked "First Daughter." it was a very cute movie. I saw this movie called "Lucky 13." Dont watch it, it's lame. :) as well as "Closer", also very lame. If I think of anymore I'll write about them later. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion of these movies. Some of the ones I hated, someone else may love so dont take me personally or get offended by my opinions lol. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so its cool if you disagree about my taste in movies lol. princessbride2238453.6490509259I usually pick horror movies when am in the movie mood. Don't watch
many movies though can never seem to sit through the whole thing. If I
do watch them it usually takes me a few times to get all the way
through lol.
Anybody here a kill bill fan?

LOVED it!!! I
had no interest in seeing it, but my bf rented the first one and I was
hooked after the first scene. Went to see Part 2 in the theatre.
Awesome!
really intelligent movies.
really stupid movies.
well made cartoons.
stylistic violence - like Pulp Fiction or that new Sin City looks like me but it might suck.
My bf and I
actually saw Sin City yesterday. It wasn't my cup of tea at all. Too
much weird information, and way too much jumping around. Plus I didn't
really care for the plot. It could just be a guy thing though - my bf liked it a lot.
There were some things to appreciate from an artistic point of view though.
bcgirl197838453.6669791667favorite movies- star wars, lord of the rings, gladiator, indiana jones, the
great escape, the godfather, jaws (only the original), some like it hot, all
marx brothers, dodgeball...there are more, i love movies!
Does anyone have family -young kids- movie recommendations? Especially, animated or anime.
I would definitely recommend "The Iron Giant". It was made by the
guy who did "The Incredibles". It's got a great moral for the
kids. It might be a bit scary in a few places for the really
young kids, though. But if they made it through "The Incredibles"
okay, then they'd have no problem with this one.
I finally saw The Ring today on video. It is really a good one.
Like good movies. As a parent, I like animated movies with or
without double -entendres that I can watch with my kids. Shrek,
Incredibles, Castle In the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service.
Also, quick votes for best (longest) car chase scene in the original
Gone In Sixty Seconds and for the best skateboard chase scene in
Gleaming the Cube. Neither movie is a paragon of filmaking, but I
thought I'd throw that in.
Does anyone have family -young kids- movie recommendations? Especially, animated or anime.
gearhead
< ="">
For those of you who like "Office Space", I am watching it right now on comedy Central....this movie is a hoot!!!!!If you like (slightly odd) animated movies, I would suggest the French movie
The Triplets of Belleville.
You don't have to worry about subtitles because there's only 2 or 3
lines of dialogue in the whole film. But the animation does a
great job of telling the story without it. It has some great
characters, and it contains the most creative use of a hand grenade
I've ever seen (frog soup, anyone?).
Go see Meet the Fockers,,, or whatever the second one is called.
You don't have to pay attention to understand it,, so its good for us ADDers.
Funny as hell. ..... if you like that sort of thing.
Lord of the Rings movies are great,,, but only after watching them each three times to figure what the helll is going on! Viggo kept me watching.
If you like your romantic comedies "a little odd", then I'd suggest Joe Versus the Volcano.
It's the first of the three with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. And,
although I liked the other two, I think this ones the best.
Pulp Fiction is a scream. For some reason I laughed mu @$$ off when that poor guy got his head accidently blown off by Travolta in the car
Also Monty Python is awesome I love them all. and Highlander is also a favorite. It's not meant to be funny but alot of things done by the antagonist in the story tickle that little warped spot on my funny bone. Ok...... Maybe it's a BIG warped spot
Scott
I have different movies for different moods but I hate slasher horror movies...there's no story line and I keep saying, "Oh, yeah, right, like I'd do that!" We all know we'd be running our asses in the opposite direction from Jason or Freddy, aliens, humanoids, or zombies, etc. Or maybe we would blow them up with a bomb or with ten granades duct taped to them and end their madness once and for all...and I also would make sure I actually DID kill the bad guy/monster, not just assume he was dead and then try to step past or over him/it. I can't relate to terrible story lines. I cannot sit through them!
Off the top of my head movies I've appreciated:
Three Kings with George Clooney but because it was a good movie to me
Bruce Almighty
There's Something about Mary,
The Count of Monte Cristo (the new release a year or two ago and mostly because of the speech the guy gave at his son's birthday party--but he didn't know it was really his son at the time)
Second Hand Lions
Conrack--with John Voight
Erin Brokowicz
Flight of the Phoenix--either version
Big Fat Liar
Parenthood
True Lies
Duece Bigalow Male Giggalo--so stupid that it was funny
Blind Date
Old Yeller
Borne Identity
Behind Enemy lines
6th Sense
Mask --with Cher
Hunt for Red October
Dave -Kevin Kline
Last of the Dogmen
Jurassic Park III
Too many more to list but I'm not into action or sci-fi. I love movies where the underdog comes out the winner or where someone stuck it out even when it got super tough but that person kept believing in him/herself.
I like a good adventure, romantic comedy, or a good story.
