Still trying to decide whether to try the meds with my son. Would like to know if your child developed tics from meds, which meds were responsible, and whether the tics went away or remained after meds were reduced/switched.
Thanks.
My dd got a verbal tic (constant throat clearing) after being on Adderall for a week. Once we took her off a week later, it went away in a few days. We are now trying Strattera, which isn't supposed to cause tics.

My son got tics from Adderall and Adderall XR. Finally are starting to resolve after 3 months being off meds. My son got tics from Adderall xr and Ritalin LA. He was blinking more than an average boy before starting the medication so he was probably prone to it. The tics turned horrifying including a blood curdling scream and a thing where he moved his legs and stuck his butt out (sounds funny, but at the time I was scared to death) on the Adderall. When he was stressed at school he would tic verbally-needless to say that was very disruptive. As soon as I realized what was happening I removed the medication each time. It took up to a two months for the tics to stop after the medication was removed. My son has been on guanfacine(Tenex) for a year and it has worked well for him. He is still a blinker, but that is just part of who he is not the medication causing it! Good-luck on your search-it is not an easy decision to make.
