Normal people cause me undue stress | ADHD Information

I knew my rent would be short this month, so I logically took cash I already had, bought a money order for , and wrote the check for the difference for 9. I thought all was well. Today I get an eviction warning letter with not so much as a "oh by the way we are missing a check". I am upset because I double-checked my envelope to make sure I had signed and dated everything & put apartment number on it. This is how I backtracked and KNEW I hadn't forgotten because I am quite anal about not getting booted from my messy little apartment. When I called them up they said they have a money order for and no check. I finally arrive home frantically looking for my check number and call them back giving them more info than they needed. All the while I am sitting chewing my nails to nubs & climbing the walls. They say they will call me on Monday if they "can't find it". I am freaking out. First time they have lost my check and I am quite fond of staying where I have been the last 7 years. I can just as easily write them a new check or get another money order, but if they charge me the late fee what can I do?

This is the sort of thing that throws me into Rain-man mode and I can't think of anything but 5 minutes til Wheel of Fortune...ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Why can't the normal people just keep not making mistakes and leave me be? <sniffles>

Reizende38450.6425Wish I had some good advice. Hang in there!!!!

They have the money order, but not the check & it's not cashed. I am just hoping they don't try to pin late fee on me. I only have enough for rent, not extravagent late charges that aren't my fault. I could understand had I forgotten to pay the rent, but out of everything I do thats the only thing I never forgot.Reizende,
Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago. Aren't landlords evil? They give you an eviction notice before they give you any other kind of notice!
Just be as diplomatic as possible with the bastards and see if you can smooth it over. Maybe a second money order would be needed; ask them what would be best for them.
And listen to some George Thoroughgood, it helped me ;)
Heheh thanks all for your support 8) I am hoping they forgo they late charge. They said they would call me Monday if they still can't find it.I hope everything works out ok for you, I wasn't aware you could be evicted that fast, ouch. anyway i know how you feel, when something on my super long list of things to do, has been crossed off in my mind as done and i find out there has been a "Glitch" it completley messes me up! I cant think, or concentrate on anything else, and i'm such a mess i don't even have it in me to see the obvious resolution. I hope they find the check, if its not cashed and you have to issue a new one try showing them your checkbook as proof you did write it maybe the can waive the fee. 75.00 seems awfully high. good luck!!!I'd just write another check.  If you've written the first one to them, the only people that can cash it would be them.  If they were unethical, and cashed both, you could really make life hard for them.  I doubt they would do something that underhanded (or am I naive??).   I have to say though, that I bet they will find it sooner or later! It sounds like you went through painstaking efforts preparing this payment, it would be hard to believe you'd put the money order in and not the check. With a money order do you have part of it like a pink copy for yourself?  Or even a reciept?  If you did that is your proof.  I hope you find itJill...I think the landlord did receive the money order, but not her check she wrote for the remainder of her rent.

Reizende, I'd check with my bank to see if the check has been cashed, and if it hasn't and doesn't cost too much, ask for a stop payment. Then reissue a check to your landlord (hand deliever, if possible). Good luck![QUOTE=duques6511970]I hope everything works out ok for you, I wasn't aware you could be evicted that fast, ouch. anyway i know how you feel, when something on my super long list of things to do, has been crossed off in my mind as done and i find out there has been a "Glitch" it completley messes me up!  Yeah you can get evicted that fast. Days. They're such ratbastards. Always have been, since the dawn of time... I figure if you can't beat them, join them... I'm going to be a landlady someday
Hee hee Desert, you're pretty funny! They couldn't find my check today, but they let me write a new one and said they have lost checks before. All worked out 8)
