Hello!
I am a 34 F and was just diagnosed with ADD. The doc started me on 18mg of Strattera for 5 days then bumped me up to 36mg after 10 days total, I had enough! The whole time I was dizzy and light-headed. Like, if I turned my head my brain followed about 2 seconds later. It felt like I was carrying around a 10 pound weight in my head (in addition to my brain :-P). I used to be on 50mg of Zoloft right before I started taking the Strattera and now I miss it! The only thing I have felt over the past two weeks is crappy :-(
So she took me off and I started Adderall XR yesterday. I took 10mg yesterday and 10mg today. I am to take 10mg for 4 days then bump myself up to 20mg a day. The kicker?? I am light-headed and dizzy AGAIN!!!! Is this normal? I am not feeling any clearer, I am forgetting words, and I feel out of sorts! HELP!!!
I am unsure about these drugs as I do not take them myself. But I do not think that these side affects are acceptable.
I would once again - go back to the dr and explain it.
You cant live like that.
When I was younger I wa sprescribed zolft and it was also 50 mg and i took it for about 3 years and another drug clonadine at the same time and when i stoped taking them i felt crappy and irriatable. Just unhappy all together for about a month maybe more? And the weird part is when i was prescribed these 2 medications 3 years before i was a very happy 11 year old and the RN that prescribed the pills just thougt i was depressed about my parents splitting up which i wasn't but when I stoped taking the medication I stoped cold turkey because I knew I didnt need it and when I did was pretty irritable for a month or so basically just not a fun person to be around but the irritablilty, unpleasantness and some what sad eventually went away. I'm not sure if i felt sad I just felt sad because it was like 4 years ago but I deffinatly remember the irritability. Jared11298738462.1507407407Make sure you eat when taking the dose. If I don't, I get really light headed and dizzy and feel out of it. Good luck.Everybody has different side effects. Are you drinking enough water and eliminating coffee and tea? Coffee, tea and meds are not a good mix. Tell your doc.Did you stop the Zoloft cold turkey? That same feeling happened to me whenever I would miss a dose of Paxil.I was down to 50mg of Zolft, after being on it for like 6 years, and the dr. said to stop taking it and start the strattera, well 8 days after I started the strattera I was still having horrible dizziness so I think the Dr. thought it was from the Strattera and not the withdrawal symptoms because after about 2 1/2 weeks I am fine, even though I am now taking adderall xr, but in hindsight I think it was major withdrawal from the Zoloft.
And I have to say I am a bit miffed with the Dr. about it! I mean helllllllo! It was from reading everything on here I put the two together but how could a Psychiatrist, duh, not realize it was withdrawal!!! I am thinking maybe doing my own research and diagnosis online is more accurate!
Oy vey!
