Hi,
I'm new here. I'm in my mid 20's. Was diagnosed with a learning disability all through school. The accomodations I got were very similar to what you'd get with an ADHD diagnosis (tests in a quiet room, extended time), and I really think that a lot of my problems may stem from ADHD in addition to any learning issues I may have had. . .
I'm going in for a physical tomorrow, and am really thinking about bringing up the idea of meds with the Dr. . . but had a question for anyone who cares to answer: ever since I was very young (like 3 or 4) I have had a low frustration tolerance; especially when doing manual tasks. But I'd get soo frustrated, I'd throw a tantrum and bite myself. Thing is, although I've gotten a *lot* better in terms of being able to stop and redirect myself as I've gotten older, it hasn't really gone away . . . the urge is still there and sometimes I can't stop myself in time; it's almost automatic. Could this be related to ADHD, or am I just really wierd?
Normal for ADD. But biting yourself is a little weird... just a little. Kinda cutely funny for a kid.
