Does anyone here have noise-canceling headphones? I had thought about trying them but didn't have the $.

Don't waste your money! I tried industrial-grade headphones when I spent a summer working in the mine back home. The seal was so tight on the sides of my head, that I felt they were going to crush my skull. Then again, I'm very sensitive to headaches so that might have made a difference. They also made it sound like I was underwater. They are also quite heavy.

After one day I went back to using good 'ol fashioned ear plugs.

It's annoying and insulting. They're rhetorical questions! Do they really think I'm stupid enough to ask those questions for real?
One of my best friends does this all the time. She is as sarcastic as they come, but when you say something sarcastic or rhetorical to HER, 99% of the time she takes it literally.

One of our mutual friends just got engaged, and I blurted out one day "what the hell is so wrong with me that my boyfriend hasn't proposed yet!!!". I was joking of course, but she looked at me all serious-like and immediately started in with "there's nothing wrong with you - you are intelligent, pretty, blah blah blah blah, and your day will come too!".

scary green giant:..................yes, come to think of it, she would be too dumb...she would be like...."WHAT'S DIS FOUR?????''..(heavy country accent...)

but, give us an example of a rhetorical question that you ask and folks don't get....

But that kind of reminds me of some of the folks here.  My husband has a very small top lip...i tease him and tell him that he doesn't have a top lip at all (because I think it's cute...).  And in the ultrasound pictures of my baby, on one of the profiles of his face, you can also see a distinct "lack" of a top lip in him too...I was estatic....

I was going around telling everyone..."look at my hubby...see how he doesn't have no top lip?....look at my baby...he isn't going to have a top lip either...they are going to look alike....HOW CUUTTTEE!!"

Most intelligient souls are like...aw!...and then their are more than a few stupid ones are like,...."what do you mean they dont' have top lips!?? your husband has a top lip! what r u talking about?....(as if it is a birth defect, or something....do you really think that I would be getting as excited about it if and sharing it as if it is the most cutest thing in the world???)

OK!  WAY OFF TOPIC THERE....sorry. it's just that what scary green giant said reminded me of this....i tend to get off topic a lot lately...

sorry again.
Sonya...Perhaps leaving a little, giftwrapped box of toothpicks on her desk, when no one's around to see you deliver this "gift," may give her a hint??
LOL!!!!!!!!

You are trying to bring out the mischeivious devious high school girl antics in me!

This sounds like something me and my friends would have done back then!!!....

................................hm.............it's almost too irrisistable not to revert to my old school girl ways and try this one........
I work with my husband, and he knows how aggravating the "teeth sucker is">....I told him about the plot to leave a "gift" for her, but he adamantly refused to be an accomplice in this mischievious plot...

She'll probably be too stupid to "get" it.

Or is this actually 'normal"? But I agree, it's very annoying. I don't think you're stupid at all! Oops, or was that just a rhetorical question?

In any case, it's related to the irritating things our co-workers can do....that drive us up a wall. Just don't know if it's because we're AD/HD or not.GypsyWomyn38454.4324189815Sonya...Perhaps leaving a little, giftwrapped box of toothpicks on her desk, when no one's around to see you deliver this "gift," may give her a hint??

Sandra
Does anyone here have noise-canceling headphones? I had thought about trying them but didn't have the $.

I always used to hide in the darkest corner of the library with my laptop and glare at interlopers. Beware the ADD troll!
lol yeah the two radios would be driving me nuts too. I don't think I'd even be able to stand sharing an office with someone. Everytime their fingers clicked on the keyboard or they took a deep breath it would distract the hell out of me. lol there would be major tension in that office There are construction workers right outside my office (part of our building is being renovated), and they are BLASTING a radio or stereo. Okay, maybe not blasting, but it is definitely loud enough for me to hear it behind a closed door. AND, my co-worker with whom I share an office is playing his own radio. It is very soft, but with my supersonic hearing, all I can hear is two sources of music competing with each other.

Does this drive anyone else nuts?
It would drive me nuts.  Get your headphones on (if your job allows it) and crank 'em up.

I would be going crazy.  I have spider senses too.  I would kindly buy my co- worker some earplugs and call the super of the construction site and let him know that their noise is hendering your work.

Have a good day.

BC, I know this is only your fourth day on Wellbutrin .... but give it time, and hopefully these sort of things will not be as annoying and distracting. Although, I think it's 'normal' for anyone to be distracted and annoyed with this kind of working conditions. But it may not drive you as NUTS! in the future.

However, YES, it would drive me nuts to hear two different radios on at the same time! Even to hear two conversations going on at the same time! Or if I ask someone a questions, and two people try to answer at the same time (even though I only asked ONE of them!

Isn't there anyone in the building who can remind these construction workers there are people trying to work inside?

GypsyWomyn38453.5469675926yes, daily >8(Walgreens sells some awesome 33 decibel earplugs. Maybe they'd help!
