Has anyone experienced a true withdrawal from any anti-depressants? If so which, which med? What were the symptoms? How long did they last?
I went off 50mg of Zoloft and went straight to Strattera (18mg), then was so dizzy/light-headed I could not stand it so the doc had me switch(after 10 days) straight to Adderall XR (10mg now up to 20mg(today)).
So what I am thinking is that I was not dizzy/light-headed from the Strattera but from the Zoloft withdrawal! How can I tell the difference? If that is what it was should I try going back to Strattera? Or is Adderall XR better?
Thanks for any input you may have :-)
Every med works different for each person so the main question would be is the Adderall working for you right now or not. If not then definately try another med if it is then i wouldn't mess with a good thing. Antidepressants generally give you about 4-6 weeks of withdrawal some longer. Again this will vary by person and also differ depending on the dosage if you tapered off, switched to another antidepressant type med (stratterra) or went cold turkey. It is too soon to tell if adderall is working or not since it has only been 5 days. Plus I have no idea what I am supposed to feel like
The thing that was most attractive about Strattera, well I guess two things, was one, it was long lasting and you did not feel any ups and downs, which I personally have not experienced yet still being a newbie.
The second thing was the depression aspect of it too. I have been on anti-depressants for about 8+ years. This is the first time I have been anti-depressant free. I have noticed my obsessive thinking is back a bit and a feeling of blah as well, but nothing too major. So the fact thay Strattera treated both seemed like an extra bonus! hee hee
