Scared at Night? | ADHD Information

We upped my 7 year old son's dosage of Ritalin LA to 40mg last week.  Since then, he's had more trouble falling asleep at night and has woken up on several occasions scared of the dark.  He says he sees things in his room and it scares him to death, and he runs in my room crying.  Is this common?  He's also very emotional at night.

I really don't think the Ritalin LA is helping him at all.  He's still very "wired" and inattentive.

Take out all refined sugar at night. Will help sleep better.I would report this to the prescribing Doctor-Trust your instincts-if it isn't working keep searching for something that does! Good luck-I know it is scary!

I was hoping when we checked in with the doctor a week ago that we'd try something else, but instead he just upped the dosage.  He said we'd probably try Adderall next.  I was kind of hoping for a non-stimulant like Strattera - but he said Strattera sometimes takes a while to get into the system to see results.  And it only comes in pill form, which my son would struggle with.

This process is very frustrating!

Hang in there mom I knwo it's tough but eventually you will find something that works . The trial and error period of finding the meds is theis worst but it does get better after that.< ="">
