I've had (at the last count) 42 jobs, and almost all of my bosses would qualify for an award in stupidity.  This makes me wonder if one of the things required to make any headway in this world is some kind of special stupidness that only we can see.

Daft idea?  Probably.  But it would explain a lot.

Well here is the thing about bosses. Bosses become bosses by getting promotions from other bosses. If you are a boss, and you like being a boss which I suppose most do, are you going to promote the guy who is better and smarter than you? No, to maintain your authority, you choose someone who is *almost* as competant as you are. As this process repeats, the management of a company becomes dumber and dumber, until the company inevitably collapses from mismanagement. Walt Disney -> Micheal Eisner. You could probably guage the age of a company by the stupidity of the management. I call it the "Theory of Devolution".

No, she is always on the ball when it comes to getting work done, while I am behind. Yet, she keeps asking me to show her how to do it again instead of consulting her notes. Reizende38458.3707291667
May she is add also
Angie, how do you know she isn't ADHD?   I was very fast and accurate at work, yet I still needed to be told often certain instructions. It even purplexed me (pre-diagnosis), since I knew I was intellegent, fast, accurate...then why couldn't I retain certain instructions? And I'm definitely ADHHHHD. GypsyWomyn38458.4099768519

Just remember:

If you don't see any idiots at work then you're looking in the wrong place...........

........Try looking in the mirror

Excellently put old chap.  I approve

The girl I am referring too follows all the instructions of everyone else without a problem. She can carry out tasks effieciently. It's just when it comes to doing my work (we both have the same work) she wants me to do it for her.

My question....

I work at a call center.  It does not necessarily have to stay QUIET in here, but  you have to keep in mind that your neighbor is most likely on the phone, keep the noise to a minimum, right?

what I don't understand is this...

WHY ARE PEOPLE SINGING UP IN HERE!???? AND CHEWING GUM?? AND ACTING THE FOOL? AND BUSTING OUT IN LAUGHTER!??

OH GOD, CHRISTMAS!  PEOPLE WERE BREAKING OUT INTO CHRISTMAS CAROLES  UP IN HERE.....HEEELLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!! I'M ON THE PHONE WITH SOMEONE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FREEZING BECAUSE THEIR CAR BROKE DOWN!  I DON'T CARE WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR IT IS, THEY SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TO YELL TO ME OVER THE PHONE SO I CAN HEAR THEM OF YOUR "NECESSARY" CHRISTMAS CAROLES!!

I am definitely surrounded by idiots at work that don't keep in mind where they are....i thought this would be common sense, and not nothing to do with ad/hd....but that's just MY job....

Managers DO suck also, I agree with that.... i resent having some one else telling me how to do stuff.  it just bothers me.

maybe managers/boss types are smarter - they play the bologna rules while we apply common sense and too much straightforwardness.
I mean they know what looks good on paper to a higher-up sort, we just know what looks good.
Mark, I really want to call people Old Chap but as an American I don't think I have the right style to pull it off effectively. I am a southerner though so I can and do say and write y'all. yalll. For you all.

lol!  i have done this in some other threads, too! i wrote yall...

and I like to read the little conversations that Mark has with Taag man from time to time...

i can just imagine the graceful accents there, going back and forth......

Do we both think it for the same reasons?
They think it because they're insecure.  We think it because we're right.

I think it's one of the gifts of ADHD.  My shrink commented on the ADDers 'problem with authority', and I wondered about this - if I didn't have ADHD would my boss be any less of an idiot?  Of course not.  Just because my inbuilt 'blithering idiot detector' would no longer be there would in no way increase the competence of the buffoon I work for.

Now it's kind of funny but it really used to bother me.

It's funny to listen to the phrases - every business has them.  People will phrase things that are entirely self-centered in a way so that it seems like it's for the benefit of the group or the "mission".  The phrases aren't really that subtle but people pretend not to see through them.

Before I started dealing with my add, I used to inform people in the organization of this and other hypocritical things.  However, in that case, I was the slow one - everyone else already knew it was a bunch of bologna and just went along with things because that's what you're "suppose to do" ... to keep people happy and to keep your job.

I go along with some of the idiot things now.

Well, for example..I have shown a particular person in the office at least 10 times as to how to do my work (and it was quite a task for me to remember the simple process). I had given her full detailed step 1, step 2, etc kind of notes from day 1. What does she do? "Uh..can you show me how to do this Angie?" I am almost about to climb the walls. It's hard enough to keep track of my own work from simple daily distractions, but instead of looking at her thorough notes like I do when I forget, she begs me to come stand at her computer. Her work is always done, she is fast, she is alert, she is able to keep up, and yet she claims she wants me to show her how to do it one more time. Every month its the same thing..so I am beginning to feel a case of the "idiots" coming on.

May she is add also."I am surrounded by idiots at work"

This seems to be a constant complaint. I wonder how many normals also think this and I believe it is quite a few.

Do we think it more often?

Do we both think it for the same reasons?

You know something..as a whole I believe we tend to have higher intelligence, the only problem is that all of that info has no place to go. When I am at work I am quick to catch on to the normal people's idiotic behaviors, but I am usually the one being called the big dummy. I can't get the information out  of my head in an intelligent manner, no matter how good the intent, so whether they are dumb or not I get stuck holding the bag. haha

Perhaps it's more idiotic to think that everyone else is idiots... we even know that there is something wrong with us that affect our attention span and make us short fused... the delusion that everyone else is idiots must be a cause of our own tendency to draw quick conclusions.

More intelligent... perhaps, but then why can't we seem to fit in?

Nope.  I know an idiot when I see one.
Nope.  I know an idiot when I see one.
Yes... of course you do... we all know an idiot when we see one...

The only problem is that ADHD people judge allot of peple on their own shortcomings... does it not ring a bell, that you see idiots everywere?

Not everywhere, old chap.  Not everywhere.

but I think all accents are beautiful in their own way...

But I have read how the rest of the world hates an american accent...what we do to the "queen's english" is obsene, i read somewhere...and oh god, how we mess up french!!!  (i am just quoting those from some where else, not from my own opinion..i don't even speak french!)

just a personal passion of mine, i love languages, and listening to others speak...
Graceful?  You've obviously never been to Leicester...
i can just imagine the graceful accents there, going back and forth......
graceful... nobody have ever said that about my school english

oh, i am just a sucker for any accent....be they british, southern us, northern us, jamaican, or whatever...

but maybe, for you and mark, i should not have used the word "graceful"....maybe I should have looked for a more MACHO word...
