Do we break, wreck our stuff often? | ADHD Information

Share

I can totally relate.  Most maddening is in the morning when I find the ONLY shirt without a stain or missing button...not ironed of course...and just as I'm about to finish ironing I find a big 'ol stain that I SWEAR wasn't there before.  I'm usually late for the train, so I just tell people who may notice that it happened on the way to work....DUH

I stopped buying watches, expensive clothing/shoes etc a long time ago, b/c I either lose or ruin them within a few days.

You could cover me head to toe in saran wrap and I'll still find a way to spill marinara sauce on my shirt, tie, or pants.

oh, i forgot about this....i am very hard on a car...i don't know why.  maybe because i don't clean it?  i forget about oil changes sometimes? i dunno, i just know when i need a new car, i only go for the hardy ones, that can stand up to me.

Oh yeah- I'm just like you guys on the clothes with rips and stains. I've had to go with dark colors for the most part. I'm still looking for the perfect stain remover. Its kinda nice to have small children, because I can blame the stains on them right now. Oh that giant red chunky blob? The baby smeared that on me...

I break dishes and cups all the time, and am really hard on electronic equipment.

I've just come to accept that I'm going to have to go through lots of clothes, and buy the sturdiest versions of other stuff (plastic is my best friend) out there.Sorry goldenmoment, you're alone on that one. Actually I can only speak for myself and say that I don't have that problem. Yes, I do that, too. No white shirts for me. Things get broken around here all the time and my Husband always thought it was from my roughness.. Now, I know it is. I can't be gentle with things, it seems. I bet it's from my impatience.I don't believe I own one piece of clothing that doesn't have a stain or a cigarette burn ...or even a rip from my cat's claws (although I do cut her nails regularly ??). I haven't been able to wear white since I was about 10 months old! Don't know why, but I wear shoes out way to fast!

Addbec...I think it's my impatience also why I break so many of my things....#1 droppsies!!    I also move too fast, and often catch my clothes on something....riiipp!

I'm teased relentlessly by friends cuz I inevitably spill something when having dinner or holiday meals with them.    I try sooo hard not to when out to dinner.GypsyWomyn38459.6901273148I seem to go through things that I buy for myself like shoes, backpacks, purses, sometimes outfits I wear, gadgets, computer processors, closet doors, dressor drawers, etc..things just get wrecked sooner then later with me.

I often will spill things on my clothes. I DO NOT buy white clothes any more, except under thingies but other then that, forget about any white blouse, shirt, pants, shorts, etc...I CANNOT EVEN MAKE IT OUT THE DOOR FOR THE DAY before I get stuff on anything white.

yep! spill stuff on myself, trip up the stairs and tear hole in stockings knee, or rush around the house and catch belt loop or pocket of pants on the door handle. Damage pants, door or myself, whichever is least sturdy.

On the occasions I enjoy a glass of wine I like drinking it out of a coffee mug. Every time I have a proper wine glass (especially ones with a very tall fragile stem) I knock it over making animated hand gestures when talking, or when reaching for something.

People don't like their glasses broken, or their lasagne floating in red wine, I have discovered.

Only when I fling objects across the room in a moment of rage. As far as wrecking/breaking things unintentionally I don't really have any major problems with that. I do lose my things quite often because I am so scatterbrained. But for the items that I have managed not to lose, I use a lot of them for a long time. I've been using the same umbrella since I was five years old and I'm 23 now. It's kind of like a baby blanket I guess.  scarygreengiant38459.7005787037 [QUOTE=eliza]

Boy oh boy oh boy can I relate to this. I can even go one better, I no longer sit around by the jacuzzi pr pool with friends sipping from crystal champaign or wine glasses...twice I've spilled and broke the glass in their jacuzzi, it had to be totally emptied out and cleand for clear lead crystal chunks. Everyone had to get out!! Now, however, at those times, they save that clear pastic champaign "glass" for me, the one that the flat round bottom part detaches. Like a kiddie thing but that's ok. I'm happy, they're happy. Works for me.I read somewhere that ADDers are klutzy.  Most of my clothes have stains on them, but they're mostly jeans and sweatshirts so it doesn't matter.  I wonder what I'll do when I have to get a real job and leave my college grungy-chic look and wear grown-up clothes.

oh yes!  I don't buy white clothes.  Yesterday I put on a new summer shirt that was in my closet, a silk polo.  well.....within an hour of putting it on the cat had put a couple of large snags in it.  I thought, well, that's ok, I can still wear it under a jacket.  Then my son skinned his knee and it now has a blood stain on the front.  I either wreck things or lose them.  My husband won't let me drive the newer car.

i already was klutzy to begin with....now that i'm pregnant, i am even MORE clumpsy, PLUS, i have this huge belly that's all of a sudden all in my way..

i can't even were white any more....every single day i come home from work, i have these stains all over the belly of my shirts...i don't even know where most of them come from.

i did this a lot as a kid.  I just wore stuff out.  I don't know how...i wore out book bags, and notebooks the worse...my mom had to spend extra $$ to get the tough, strong book bags with lifetime warranties, and the plastic "Five Star" notebooks...otherwise, you could just forget it....

and for the little calculators and stuff? usually i just lost them before I ever had a chance to were them out...

i guess it's because I didn't take good care of my stuff.  I am still somewhat like this now, but I am a little better...not much, though.

sonya_h38460.3907523148I still seem accident prone. Believe it or not I rarely break anything and if I do, it's because I couldn't find it then sat on it.

I wish I could say I don't mess my stuff up all the time, but that'd be a lie...LoL  I often go to take a drink of something, and it ends up all over my shirt.  But most of my "wrecking" goes through not paying attention with things like that. I have messed up a lot of clothes w/ bleach sopts, too. If losing stuff counts, I do that all the time, too.  LoL   Hmm, and I won't even mention how many times my cell phone has gone flying thru the air...and my laptop...  I have gotten better about throwing things in anger (which I never did in front of otehr people either), I ruined a 0 phone and had to fix a dent in the wall last time...LoL

Between my running into everything and my rowdy dogs (95 and 65 lbs), my house is pretty bare, too.  Things get knocked down a lot, so everything is "put away."  I'm surprised my aquariums haven't been busted yet, LoL....er, *knock on wood*!
