I give Mark full support...
I just cannot read long posts.. I haven't even read all of Marks message either... I just read the first 3 lines, and the rest I read vertically... just scanning... I just can't do Anything else.... and I can't read them at all If they are much longer than Mark's is...
My thoughts are: if you wish to send a long post, you should be aware that there will be many of us who will not read it. Not because we don't like you, or that we feel that your words are worthless, but because we cannot read your post because of our disability.

I'm actually surprised the 'default' font is so small on an AD/HD board.
) GypsyWomyn38460.4485069444I propose one FORMAL guideline:
If
we're talking 'informal guidelines' how about one not allowing two
polls with the same topic, at the same time, by the same member. Are
you trying to confuse us?
Ditto.Perhaps I should comment here, as it was probably my "Wow, what long posts!" response in another thread that triggered this.

There are some here who can, and that's fine - there are varying levels of severity of ADHD amongst the subscribers to this board.
As for 'informal guidelines', well, what's wrong with that? We are not talking of rules here, but guidelines. Something like "Understand that the longer your post the fewer the people who will be able to read it" would seem to me to be an informal guideline, and should offend no-one.
So, once again: If I don't read your long post it doesn't mean I don't like you, it means I can't read it.
And yes, Goldenmoment, I do have the attention span of a gnat - but remember: I was made this way, it was not through choice.

I have the most difficulty when the post is not broken into little paragraphs. I need the white space.
Occassionally, people won't break to change paragraphs at all, and I have a lot of difficulty reading that type of post.
Well Yellowdog you can appreciate this one the post on the parent side complaining about you was longer than long, I had no tension span for and I do not have ADD but live with two who does. I guess she has no life. What are we becoming?

I stopped posting much in the past few days. I can't keep up with the reading. hehe...and my posts became much shorter too. LOLPerhaps I should comment here, as it was probably my "Wow, what long posts!" response in another thread that triggered this.

Mark Goode38460.4798611111 Hehe. I've posted the same poll topic twice before because I messed up the first time. My poll question was something like, "How do you feel about music?" And the vote options were, "Yes" , "No", and "Sometimes".
scarygreengiant38459.9257523148SGG...actually my intent wasn't the fact two polls were created, but the topic of 'limited guidelines' i.e., keeping posts short. You have to have read our Sunday night postings to understand why I posted this...'dig'
It was an interesting night...and it isn't even NEAR the full moon!
GypsyWomyn38459.9706828704I agree that shorter posts are much easier for me to read (I get lost and confused in the longer posts and am not able to grasp what is being said). And as said we are only discussing "informal guidelines".
I would suggest that if helps the writer tell his story or answer a question a little more information is better than allowing us to miss the point being made entirely. Maybe we can all try to keep in mind to try to keep our posts less wordy if and when possible.
I would really like to say a huge thank you to all of you for posting your messages. There is even a lot of good information about how ADD affects me in this "informal guidelines" post.
Your posts have helped me understand what this ADD is and I am now able to at least accept that I'm not going insane as I once thought I was (I know what my doctors tells me also helps but it helps even more hearing your stories).
