Medication and weight loss | ADHD Information

I have not lost weight on Concerta. Lost my appitite for a few days,, but that was it. I hear they sometimes prescribe anti-depressents if it is a big problem. (They tend to make you gain weight).

 

Is there any ADHD medication that doesnt make you lose weight??

Since Strattera our son has gained weight and grown taller.We give only after eating.

I lost 8lbs with Strattera, all came back when I went to Adderall though. Bumma! Thats weird because people who take adderall generally lose weight because adderall used to be a weight loss drug. Yeah, I was happy to lose the weight, but if I lose any more I would be too skinny. Does ritalin or concerta cause any type of weight loss? [QUOTE=Rachael]

My Psychiatrist said that usually kids lose weight on Strattera and that they give the med to them during school but not during the summer. That way, the kids are given a change to grow.

I hope Strattera works the same for me! I want to lose about 30 lbs!

It just figures a side effect I could use I don't get.Thats what my Dr told me, I'm a freak....kinda hard to compare brain meds, as every person seems so different, interesting to read though. I'm sad though, I'm not really fat or anything, but I have gained 17 lbs since I graduated. But I signed up at the Y, we'll see how that goes...no contracts there if I flake out...like usual.
