| PMS and ADD meds | |||

Okay,,, does anyone know anything about why my meds don't work at all when I have PMS, and my monthly cycle? It is crazy. I am SOOOO moody and yelling at the kids, and just nuts. Couldn't be more miserable. I am thinking it would be better to not take the meds during this time. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Could it be because of changing hormones? Thanks Hormones affect AD/HD meds. They ARE less effective during that time in your cycle.
I just started taking Adderal Monday for ADD - newly diagnosed/newly treated. and I too am pms'ing and was wondering if it is me, or the meds not working. so i was going to ask the ladies on the site what their expierence is like at this time. Do you still find your self clouded in the head, and distracted as if you were not on your medicatin? or that it is less effective? I get really distracted, w/ a very clouded head. I didn't take my medication today, because I had only about 4 hourse of sleep last night (my choice - just working a lot of OT) so I didn't what to have any weird or unexpected event, since i am still new to the drug and am learning the affects. MY GOD!!! I'm sitting here bored, my son has gotten into talking on gaming forums and I do an Adult ADHD search. Here you all are discussing PMS and meds! It is HORRIBLE for me. I may not as well be taking them at that time. It's like a return to "before medication" and I hate it. I was wondering if going on that Seasonale and only having a period 4 times a year would actually help the situation. I'm not sure exactly HOW the hormones affect my body, I only know they do. It is torture now. Only because I know what it's like to be absent of symptoms. If anyone has any experience with the Seasonale thing, I'd love to hear it.I am worse during pms time..but MUCH worse without meds. So I muddle through.![]() Wow! This is quite interesting! I too have the same PMS problems. What is funny-when I was younger I had few issues with PMS, however, now boardering on 40 PMS have become full blown. A week before my monthly I become the biggest b****! My husband use to say "What is wrong with you?" Then I started to recognize the pattern-1 week before and sometimes 1 week afterwards. I have not found the right med. yet but have noticed some changes in the effects during this time. Beth |
