Medication questions | ADHD Information
Reizende- "real drugs" for AD/HD are typically stimulants which promote CNS activity. They are thought affect the norepinephrine, dopamine, and monoamines.
Word, daydreams are totally healthy in moderation. Reduce stress, you learn more about yourself, etc. Hot!Hmm..I think what I meant to say is..I want to not daydream at work, but at home is fine. I want complete control over my ability to work. 8(
I am curious about what the real drugs do to correct ADD/ADHD symptoms. What do they actually stop?
With a lot of strain on my brain I can control most of my behavior, but NOTHING will stop me from daydreaming. It's been only 1 day with the herbal Clarocet so far. I don't expect an overnight miracle, but I have had a steady good mood all day & energy. I wouldn't have a short attention span if I could stop the daydreaming.
It takes a lot of hard work to avoid my impulsivity, or forgetfulness. Sometimes its downright impossible, but overall I am most concerned about stopping the daydreaming
My other question is, is daydreaming in the same category as hallucinating? You kinda just sit there and produce images in your mind and space out for no reason.
The meds don't stop me from daydreaming.
Actually, Ritalin did stop me from daydreaming. It was like having a
lobotomy. I sat there and neither cared nor thought about anything at
all. Scared the sh*t out of me! I felt like I could get the same effect
with a baseball bat.
Adderall is smoother, doesn't grind the wheels to a complete stop, and
just takes the edge off my daydreaming impulse so that I can more
easily control it. I like daydreaming! I don't want it to just stop!
That's probably
my main symptom - the damn daydreaming. It interferes with everything
from work, to reading, to watching a movie, to having conversations,
to... well.... just about everything.
I have serious doubts that the Wellbutrin my dr put me on is going to
do anything about it. That's not what Wellbutrin is for. I'm probably
completely screwed.
However... at times I DO enjoy daydreaming. Some of my best ideas come
to me when daydreaming. My daydreams are often very visual too.
hahah we all want complete control over our ability to work....however, i certainly don't! lol
Hmm..I think what I meant to say is..I want to not daydream at work, but at home is fine. I want complete control over my ability to work. (
I suppose that's why we want to be able to FOCUS. Any help in focusing is an answer to our 'prayers.'

I suppose if we could focus better, we would tend to daydream less, and concentrate more on the job at hand, whether it's our job at work, cleaning our home, reading a book for pleasure, etc.
