Hey....No I have not tired anything other than "Mountain Dew" . I had a friend who told me that Caffine helps out some.   If you are anyone else knows of things that you have read about that will help him stay focus (Besides the meds) please post them on here.

THANKS for the suggestions

Mt Dew is one of my self medicating remedies. I agree that it helps me stay focused and feel on track. I suck that down like there is no tomorrow.Try releaving apple. This was effeccting the handwriting I noticed on the video of a boy who was allergic to this. SEE the block center.com Contains lot's of sugar also. He, when removed it handwriting improved.joseph,

no, you're not rambling at all- makes perfect sense to me!!

when i took my son off meds, the first thing i noticed was his handwriting and overall writing.  (missing puctuation ect...)

i wonder if you would be recieving these notes if the teacher were NOT aware that he was not taking meds.  hmmm

'scuse if i missed an earlier post,  but have you tried minimizing food colors/preservatives?  using supplements like omega oils?

have you read, "is this your child?" by dr. doris rapp.  a great book on food and allergies that may cause behaviors that look alot like adhd.  just some info. someone once passed on to me...

after reading this book, we decided to take a look at food as a contributing factor to my son's difficulties.  what we found was that food dyes and heavily preserved foods,  sent my son over the edge in terms of hyperactivity and grouchy-ness!  it's worth taking a look at if you haven't already.

anyway, great news on your son.  hope it continues.

Hey...I just wanted to let you all know how its going without meds.  This is his second week and he is doing great.  He eats all the time and has gained 2 pounds.  His behavior is different but to me its actually a good sign. On medication he would come home from school and go to his room and just read a book or watch TV.  No he wants to play outside, catches frogs (He use to be scared of most everything), plays baseball and basically acts more like a typical boy.  The only down side I see so far is the fact he did not do as well on his spelling test last week (Misssed 2 words ...he usually never misses any) and his hand writing is so bad you cant read it (He has always had bad handwriting but its worse off the meds).   His teacher found out I took him off medication yesterday.  I am intersted to see if she is going to "Look" for bad behavior now.  Before she knew he was off meds he had a great week (Behavior wise) last week.  Sometimes I wonder if teachers (As mentioned earlier I use to be one) get use to expected behavior while a child is on medication and then has a differnt standard for them when they get off the meds.  .........What I mean by that is......I observed him on his field trip  when he was off his medication.  The teacher Nor He knew I was there.  His behavior was no worse than the other wild boys in her class yet i got a note saying he had a bad day.  What I was trying to say is this......I wonder if she got use to him acting a certain way on his medication and then comes down hard on him when he acts different off of his medication even though the behavior is not any worse than the other boys....

I need to stop I am rambling and not making sense  LOL.

Im at work you know and I am trying to work and type.
