Need help, insurance won’t....

I believe I have ADD and I wanted to get tested. I'm on academic probation with my college and want to get this testing done so I can get off probation and get back in school and get the assistance I need from student disability services so I can finally graduate.

I'm 31 years old and I've in and out of college for years, unable to stay focused or concentrate and get through my classes.  My work performance is also going down the drain.

I need to get help but I was just informed by my insurance that they do not cover ADD testing. Does anyone have any information on free for sliding-scale testing or places where I can get testing done?  I live in Atlanta, GA.

Most insurance companies do not cover psycho-education testing for adults. But, there is no actual "test" for AD/HD, it's diagnosed by signs and symptoms.  If your insurance company does cover visits a psychologist, Counselor, psychartrist, etc than you can receive and official diagnosis with out having the actual "testing". Also sometime when have been seeing a professional for a while they can do some creative billing. Some will actually do the psycho-educational testing over a few sessions and just bill it as a regular session.

I never had official testing. See your general practitioner and they can help you if you explain you don't have insurance for further testing. Good luck.Often through your Disabilities centre at the college they'll know more about funding and help in the area....

My college entirely paid for my testing.
