Appetite decrease | ADHD Information

I have an 8 year old son and he is a very picky eater and sometimes doesn't eat anything.  He has been on adderal for 3 years now, I have found that giving him protein drinks (which he really likes) has helped him to gain weight.  I started him on the protein drinks every night at dinner whether he eats or not and he has actually gained 7 lbs in the last 6 - 7 month.  Also at the Dr's recommendation I have been giving him multi - vitiams everyday, this is to be sure that he gets the essential vitaims that he is missing in his diet.   You do not have to buy the top of the line protein drink, I usually buy the off brand it is a little less expensive.  Also a month ago I purchased a smoothee maker and I have been giving those to him in the morning.  Yes, those kids protein drinks really helped my Son gain weight, also. Give them to him like milk while encouraging the other foods. Good luck.

So, I'm not the only person who gained weight back with a switch to Adderall. Interesting...good to know I'm not a total freak though.
there is help out there i think. When i first was put on concerta last february i lost about 15 lbs, in 2 months. Everyone was worried that i had an eating disorder and i didnt think anything of it. Im on adderall now and i've gained a lot of weight back and actually im trying to lose it again. how long has he been on the ritalin? because for a while he will have a decreased appetite just tell him that he's gotta eat until his body is used to the meds. if he has been on it for some time now then i think you should speak to your doctor.
