Breaking down BIG projects | ADHD Information
Hi All--
I'm pretty sure this is an ADHD trait, but let me know what you think and
maybe some ideas to help.
When I have a BIG project to complete--research paper, studying for
board exams, putting together a presentation--I have a hard time getting
started if I KNOW I won't be able to get it done in a single sitting. If I have
8 hours of uninterrupted time I find it easier to start a project.
Then the unfinished stuff just piles up in my brain and becomes
overwhelming and I feel there is no end in sight.
For example--I have a gazillion objectives to cram into my brain by the
time boards come around next year. I know I should be working on them
daily and in my spare moments--but I just CAN'T. I usually have ~1 hour
between work and martial arts class--it is SUCH a wasted hour unless I
have something like a 10 minute job to do...
Anybody else with this issue?
Help!
For me, it is easier to do little portions at a time. I hate doing homework or whatever all at once! can't focus that long!! So, I just do some and then do the other half later!! it's great for me!

hmmm--I usually get distracted before "later" comes around and then I
feel guilty. I have heard of some people putting info they neaded to learn on the wall. when you walk by you read it. Eventually it gets in your head. You can break the info into "chunks you need to learn and study it that way.You could try putting key things you need to learn on note cards and carrying them with you. When you have ten minutes get them out and read throuhg them. Of course I could see myself spending hours making the note cards deciding how to organize them and then never remembering to take them out and use them.My best bet is to leave the materials out where I can see them. That way I am reminded to study.Don't feel guilty, you had good intentions.
