Whoa, how about that list!! I usually drink iced tea, which shows up at 70 mg caffeine per 12 oz.

Dang, this may take a while to wean myself from.

I've only been off caffeine once (lasted a couple years), when I was dating this guy who was a total purist about anything he took into his body- no caffeine, fat, alcohol, meat etc. I thought it would be good idea to follow his lead, since he was uber healthy and in great shape. Its hard work depriving yourself, and as soon as we broke up I went out and downed a carton of Ben and Jerry's - the expresso chocolate one, I forget the name. And a fat roast beef sandwich. I'm much happier now [QUOTE=chocoholic]Its hard work depriving yourself, and as soon as we broke up I went out and downed a carton of Ben and Jerry's - the expresso chocolate one, I forget the name. Good for you! What good is life if you can't enjoy the things that make you happy?

I was posting recently about how frustrated I was with trying to lose weight - well to hell with diets and limitations and trying to eliminate entire food groups! My new mantra is "everything in moderation". Nothing has ever worked so agreeably with me - and I've already lost 2.5 pounds.
Coffee and 54 mg of Concerta did not mix well. Drawback...I had a headache that lasted one day after I quitting coffee. Plus I don't get the caffeine rollercoaster ride. My days cruise somewhat smoother now.

Samsam7238474.0706597222When I started my Adderall 3 1/2 weeks ago, I stopped caffeine cold. I depend on my morning coffee, but the Dr said no caffeine or alcohol. So I drink ALL decaf now and it's no problem. I had headaches the first couple days, but that may be the meds, not the caffeine. I still enjoy my morning coffee, but decaf..it still makes me feel good. For the caffeine fans here to know where to get their fixes:

I have stopped drinking coffee for an entirely off-topic reason, but I still drink my diet coke/pepsi. I don't find caffeine helps me focus, per se, but I sure like how it makes me feel. It's like it lifts my spirits somewhat.

About two years ago, I stopped caffeine altogether for about two weeks, and felt terrible. I had a headache, I felt groggy and nauseous, and basically just felt like crap. I know it was just withdrawal symptoms though - they probably would have gone away if I'd not cracked.
I have never gotten past the withdrawl symptoms, plus I just love my coffee and chocolate too darn much.Caffiene calms me down and helps me focus so I definately wouldn't cut it out of my diet. Some people of course it does the opposite to. If you get anxious, hyper  or jittery after having caffiene then removing it from your diet is probably wise. Or maybe eliminating everything but one serving a day.

LOL maybe it's a woman thing but we just need chocolate sometimes. Even if chocolate made me jumpy don't think I'd be able to say goodbye to it forever.  Well, after reading a couple posts whose writers claim that their lives (and adhd symptoms) have been greatly improved by quitting caffeine, I am considering doing so. My symptoms have seemed to have been getting much worse lately, and I'm looking for solutions since I cant go on meds yet.

I love my tea, and my chocolate, so I'd like to hear from others how they've felt on or off caffeine before I take such drastic action.

I want to know if I'm heading in the right direction before I take the plunge and change my username to "former chocoholic"

Hi Choc,

I think I'd go nuts if I wasn't sucking down Mt. Dew through out the day. I feel really good and alert when I do, but remember, I'm one who opted not to use Concerta like my kids do, for my own reasons that would probably be meaningless and goofy to most.

When I do a regular workout routine I think very clearly and not space or at a loss for this or that.

However, if I know I REALLY need to be in the spot light, I'll down a Mt. Dew, Surge, and Red Bull one right after the other.

Also, I take Vitamins during the day too. I have tried to weene myself off of Mt. Dew with green tea and herb tea but I don't always feel as "all there".

The only thing I can say that's bad at Mt. Dew is the sugar in it. I'm just glad I still have all my teeth but I try to brush even more then normal as a result of that.

The feeling coffee gives me  is heaven. Coffee makes me happy. The first sip a day is amazing. It's sad, but I don't know what I would do without coffee. It is a love.  Yep, yep, I self medicated for a very long time with coffee, and didn't even like the stuff at first but I liked how I felt when I drank it. I know I was always amazed that my parents drank almost nothing but and to this day, have a couple of cups just before bed to help them sleep. If that isn't a clear indication that they too, have ADD, I dunno what is,lol. I NEED caffiene to get through the day.  Even when I was on stimulants, a little caffiene was a good thing.  It helps me focus for one thing.  And a man I will say, we all need a little chocolate most of the time.i abuse caffeine constantly. don't most of us?
no one quit and felt better REALLY did they?

Well, I hope everything goes well for you chocoholic.  You can do it! (personally, my brain has been in the clouds ever since I stopped, but hopefully you will find it easier., then again, i'm not on meds either.)

I am rooting for you.
