boredom | ADHD Information
Maybe instead of looking for a new activity you need to relax and recharge the batteries. Right now, I'm looking around and none of my usual occupations interests me. The ones that do seem like too much effort.
Go lie in a park and stare blankly at the sky for an hour and relax your body and mind. Sometimes I do this, I come home and suddenly I feel like doing something. Or at least I don't feel quite so bored.
yeah yeah but how do you punch holes in the wet blanket of boredom the
"normal" world throws on you, holes to let in the light, the air?
Hi again all...
My game of choice for the last 2 years has been "Star Wars
Galaxies". It's pretty much "Everquest" with wookies. GPK,
yeah it's funny really. A very odd thing happens when I start the
game. I don't play during the day or when there is obvious stuff
to do like dishes or whatever. Anyway, my wife will be sitting
watching TV...something like "American Idol" or anything else I
loath. So I figure what the heck.....I start the game.
Suddenly, that becomes the exact time that the carpet needs to be
cleaned. She will come in with the vac. cleaner and act really
upset because she has to "do eveyrthing" and here I sit wasting time
again with a stupid game. Every time! I find it funny
really.
Yesterday, I was sitting on the couch after I did the dishes and picked
up my mandolin. Swear to God, 5 mins after a picked it up I hear
"shut up!" from the other room. Wow.
But hey...today's great...no hint of boredom...I have no idea why, but who cares!
John
I played SWG for about a month, and got bored with it. I don't like
Sony's idea of game balance. Have you played WoW, yet? You should check
it out. It's the best MMO out currently.
Todd,
I have been thinking about checking "WOW" out because I am getting a
little tired of "SWG". However, lately I have been spending most
of my free time on music. I'm sure one of these nights at 4:00AM
I'll look in to "WOW". Not a whole lot else to do at that time.
John
I like PC games also. I have spent the last 4 years off and on
playing Everquest. It's too easy to find something new to do in that
game when you're bored. Most times I use it like a chat room to sit and
shoot the breeze.
Get World of Warcraft!
Todd38475.9748842593I am so bored with much of my life like a huge wet blanket over me
blocking the light and I need to punch a hole through it. I'm even
bored with the internet and this message board which is ridiculous and
not a reflection on this board and its people but a reflection of
me.
I'm bored with art, sculpting, writing, webmastering, my job.
Not bored with my family but sometimes they just seem bored with me.
I need me some stimulus.
me too.
hey, let's go sky diving.
I hate planes and heights but I think right now I'd do it.
well theirs always waterskiing and fourwheeling. their close to the ground
i can't do ANYTHING!. my big old 8 month pregnant stomach and swollen ankles get in my way.
I have not done anything fun in months.

i wanna go rollerblading.
Hey sonya
Congratulations

Resistance:
I feel for you! It is awful to be bored. I am bored too. Everything is boring!!!!!
If we all ever meet up which we 99% sure wont, we will do something cheaper than skydiving cause i cant afford it!!!
I must admit I'm also bored....with everything!

I really need to GO somewhere...I mean far away....travel...somewhere I've never been would suit me just fine. I truly miss traveling. However, with the price of gas, I'm not going anywhere.
Could it be because Spring is upon us and just requiring something 'new' in our lives?
Sonya...you won't be bored for long. In fact, you ought to be preparing...nesting...about now, and that should keep you quite busy.

However, I can visualize you already rollerblading with a little wagon behind you...and your son squealing in delight!

Hiya Pogue
By the way I dig the Pogues.
Your job sounds like me in school - the tortuous nothingness slowly, very slowly, clicking by.
Good to see you. I've just taken up playstation with my sons, and I
need some sdram from my computer to play SimCity 3000, anybody have
some laying about???!!! :-)
Hello everyone...I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm 35 years old, and was diagnosed a year ago.
I came here because I don't know anyone with ADHD, and the people in my
life, (ok...mainly my wife) tell me all the time that it's not
real. I'm just using it as an excuse to avoid doing everything
I'm "supposed" to do. God that sucks.
Anyway, this topic was one of the main reasons I came looking for you
guys. I get bored to the point of shutting down. I sit down
at noon, and I swear to God I look up and it's 7:00 PM. Then I
get so mad at myself because I wasted a day off. Then there is my
job. My co-workes are always saying what a great job it is, and
it shocks me every time they say it because to me, it feels like I'm
there waiting to die. It's a 12 hour weekend night shift, and
most of what we do is stand there and watch the machine run. But
I have gotten myself into so much trouble there that the running joke
every week is that they haven't fired me yet. I call in sick a
lot, wonder around outside the building, burn vacation time, and forget
tasks often. I have had 10 jobs in 15 years, although I have
never been fired before.
There are 2 things I can think of that I enjoy doing, but my wife goes
nuts on me 15 mins into either of them. I'm a musician and I can
play my guitar and mandolin for 6 hours or more. Also, I enjoy
video games on the PC. But when I start either of them, I get the
guilt trip from hell, and all I ever do is waste time.
Wow, this got way longer than I intended it to....sorry
Nice to find you guys..
John
Pogue: What pc games you like?
Why are you not entitled to your leisure time? Do you get mad at your
wife for spending too much time on her nails or whatever??? It does not
seem fair that so many people object so strongly to games!!Why are
games inferior to other kinds of entertainment?!?! Would you get a
guilt trip from hell for watching tv??

woooooooooo hooooooooooooooo!
we could engage in many wild diversions, but we're going to have to rob
a bank first. We'll start our own adhd colony somewhere warm with
skydiving, really fast things with loud motors to ride, and an ocean
with all the cool folks here and create and interrupt all our
sentences..........imagine the parties.
..and treehouses for ALL!
I'm supposed to be working right now!!! But nooooo, I'm posting on this dang board!
BF and I are sort of planning a little road-trip to Edmonton in
June.... I'm counting the days because I LOVE checking out new places
and I can't wait!
I'm bored with everything I do everyday. I got all these neat new patterns to make needlepoint projects and not even motivated to cut out the canvas. They are cool, too. 3D cars, cats, & cameo heads.I am so bored yet there is so much I should be doing!!!
I am right now supposed to be looking for a job!!!!! I am unemployed and have no money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And my stupid 200$ home brew equipment is STILL rotting away in the closet, unused, unopened after months.

and I cant get arounf to reading the DAMN INSTRUCTIONS
I get bored a lot too and hate it! I desparately try to be interested in things but just get bored quickly. I'm not bored with the computer though :). Anything stimulating is fun!!
gypsy, I also love travelling. Wish I could do it more often!

I am bord too! The boredom is driving me crazzzzy! I too, have a lot I should be doing, but is it very exciting? Obviously not!
Does boredom cause anyone to have anxiety? Sometimes I feel like I am going to jump out of my skin because I don't know what to do with myself.
However, I can visualize you already rollerblading with a little wagon behind you...and your son squealing in delight!

That sounds like fun...
but I wanna do it NOOOWWWW <whine>..
oh well, i will just have to wait.
I need an adventure
I've been banned from grocery shopping because I'll come back with as many bags of chips/snacks as other items in the cart...
NO snack food? how do you live? that's practically all I eat!
NO snack food? how do you live? that's practically all I eat!
I found peanut butter in the back of the cabinet, a little old but the
dog and I both enjoyed it. The dearth of snacks is troubling since it
is sometimes all I eat as well - grocery tomorrow and look out!
I get bored all the time as well.Usually when I get bored I wind up SHOPPING!I have about 25 new shirts with tags on them.3 pairs of pants that I will never wear with tags.10 new bathroom towels that I DID NOT need.2 pairs of the same exact shoes because I forgot that I already bought them the day before.I have done that with music cd's as well.My husband calls me a shopaholic.I used to be an alcaholic.I think what I really am is a boredaholic!

That might actually be fun. I bet you anything we would be a fun group of people and have a great time. haha nice deb
Yeah we'd be wicked smart..... when I get bored I find a
challenge...sometimes I start arguments, learn new things, try to test
old things, take things apart...
Heh we need our own little island, ADHD Island. TV is FREE, internet is
FREE and anybody that thinks we're slow or dumb, we'll just conquor
them......later...when I'm done, hey is that cheese on toast?
I'll have to catch you all later, there's food around...

I need a woman who won't fall apart on the witness stand. <wink>
(OK, I have to fess up. I heard this line in a song by a guy named Tommy Womack and I think it is freaking hilarious.)

You know what's funny? Everytime I feel like I'm getting bored I always switch to another stimulating activity that I find interesting so I rarely find myself really bored. I can entertain myself by playing on the pc, or reading a romance book, or watching movies, tv etc. it's great!! but when I do get bored and am restricted from doing the stimulating things like at home with my parents, I get soo bored and it drives me nuts! but I'm getting married June12th and go home for 3 weeks May 16th so when that happens that is the last time I'll get really bored probably lol. but yikes...3 weeks! :)
