Generic Adderall?

Does it work the exact same as brand name Adderall? Didn't work that good for me I've heard others had no problem though so might be worth a try sure is a hell of a lot cheaper. SOME DRUGS SHOULDN'T USE GENERIC . adhd,THYROID, SEIZURES. CAME FROM OUR Dr.I don't know from personal experience, but my mom takes adderall for narcolepsy, and she swears that the generic does absolutely nothing for her. She pays out of pocket for the brand name, which is very expensive. This is not a woman who likes to part with her cash, so the difference must be significant. Also, my neighbors son has been on Adderall for years and she swears she notices a big difference in his impulsiveness and attention now that the generic is out (her insurance stopped covering the name brand once generic was available).Plus generic isn't available in extended release so if you need XR instead of reg you really don't have much of a choice.

Do you know why that is? I have never heard that. My Dr said generic is just as good. It works great for me.

I can attest to there being a significant difference in generics for certain people..    Though I've never taken Name brand Adderall, The first generic I tried was amazing.  Works beautifully for me and I swear by it.

But when I moved and switched pharmacies I noticed that the pills I got from them, though similar looking (orange and scored), the imprint and shape was different.  I thought, 'Oh well, a generic is a generic right?'...

:insert loud buzzer sound hear:

Lol..  There is a huge difference in the way I feel on these.  It's like All of the good aspects of Adderall were taken out and I just get 6 hours of agitation, teeth grinding and restlessness.  It's horrible.  The first day I took one I knew something wasn't right so I took them back to the pharmacy to make sure I got the right thing and they confirmed.  But the pharmacist said she had heard of similar situations so I looked into things a bit and confirmed that I am not the only one this has happened to.

After a little research I found that though generic manufacturers are required to strictly adhere to the active ingredients of their name brand counterpart, they are pretty free to use inactive ingredients (filler) of their choosing.  Many pills have fillers to make them solid, bigger and to give them a distincitve color.  It's been suggested on some sites that I've seen that some of the fillers used may be the cause of this phenomenon in certain people.  But as far as I can tell there's been no real proof, not that I need it.  It's enough just to know that it isn't just me!

Anyways, after more searching, I found the manufacturer of the generic that worked so well for me before and asked my new pharmacy to look into ordering some from them.  They seemed happy to oblige.

I'm including pics and info for those interested.

This is the one that worked best for me.  Produced by Eon Labs, Inc.

And this one will probably end up in my toilet.  Produced by Barr Pharmaceuticals.

Hope this helps to clear up things.

Evvy38478.906400463I'm going to(hopefully) get some samples of AdderallXR from my doctor on wednesday. I'll post what kind they are then.

As of now, there are no generics for Adderall XR.

I learned yesterday that generics are only approved after a patent for a certain drug is 20 years old.

Oh, that's good info. Thanks.
