Yep definately tell the doctor. If your Dr knows a certain med works for you then you will be able to skip a lot of the trial and error most adders go thru . Good luck how should I go about telling him, just the same story that i posted?? I don't want him to think that I take prescription drugs all the time or something. this is also my first time meeting with this doctor since i just moved here, so i am a little nervous lotusmonkey38474.640150463I've recently come to the conclusion that I have adhd. I've researched the symptoms taken online evaluations and everything fits me exactly. I've never been able to focus on anything. I am a 19 year old female and just moved away to college. My grades are suffering extremely because I have very long lectur classes that drive me nuts. I'm on academic probation. This last weekend a friend of mine came from home came to stay at my apartment. She is also adhd. I know this is bad but she asked if I wanted to try her medicine and I did. It worked! I felt so calm and collected , I had a saturday  morning class and I was actually able to pay attention and take notes. I made a doctors apointment today, should I mention to him that I have tried the medication? I am unfamiliar with all this stuff but I think it was called ateral time release? does that sound right. It helped me so much though, I didn't fidget, I felt like I could think clearly, have a conversation with somebody and not blurt out sentences while they were talking, it was wonderful. Should I tell him that I think this medication is right for me? Maybe, your doc is not gonna kill you or nothing for doing it.  You should let the doc know as much as possible...(it's called Adderall)

Just tell him the truth! and don't fret over it and worry about it!

I mean, most psychiatrists deal every day with drug dealers and alcoholics, TRUST ME when it comes to doctors, YOUR PERSONALLY SITUATION USUALLY NEVER SURPRISES THEM!

for most good seasoned doctors, they have heard all, and seen all, so you should never feel ashamed that they are going to "scold" or anything.

don't worry about what he will "think of you". Just let him know the truth, and just talk to him like you are talking to us.  Tell him what you have so comfortably told us today! he will understand.

sonya_h38474.643125Yeah just like you told us. It may sound funny but doctors here thisstory a lot more then you'd think. My doctor actually asked me if I had ever tried an add med. thanks for the feedback I would be honest & tell him what you did. Perhaps he can see if thats the one that you were meant to take then.
