Marijuana and ADHD | ADHD Information
AlyeskanMike,
Yes, I've tried marijuana to handle symptoms of ADD
and have had mixed results. Years ago, in college,
the marijuana helped quell my hyperactivity and,
surprisingly, my distractiblity. If I smoked, I certainly
wasn't able to complete school work, but I was able
to focus on conversations, such as they were, and
on cleaning the house, small tasks like that. But I
find that now, marijuna makes my ADD much worse
and I become a blathering, distracted, goofball —
like normal people on pot. (My doc said something
about brain chemistry changing as we age.) I don't
smoke on a regular basis anymore, but I did try — I
know some people will cringe at this— smoking
after taking my Concerta and I was very calm, very
subdued and enjoyed the experience. I found that the
Concerta and pot, while not making me Einstein, did
make me exteremely calm and for someone who is
usually quite a hyper girl, I welcomed the experience. If you have ADHD and have tried using marijuana to deal with some of the symptoms, please let me know how you feel about its effects.
